The trustee vacancy left by Carrie Hays on Oblong’s Village Board was filled during the board’s monthly meeting last Wednesday.

Jay Haines was unanimously approved to fill the vacancy and will be sworn in during the November meeting of the village board.

After a series of road losses recently, Robinson High School’s volleyball team returned home Monday night, but that was not enough to get them back in the win column. The Lady Maroons played host to Mattoon for a non-conference match and suffered a loss in two sets, 17-25, 18-25.
