Following a strong start to the season, Robinson High School’s boys’ basketball team had a rough go of it over the weekend.

The Maroons lost a pair of games over the weekend, dropping their Little Illini Conference opener at Olney Friday, 67-50 and falling to Carlisle County, Ky., 62-42, at the Cuss Wilson Classic Saturday at Marion High School.

It was a banner day for Robinson High School’s wrestling team Saturday and resulted in a quite a bit of hardware.

The Maroons had eight wrestlers place among the top-four in their respective weight classes, which led to RHS finishing second out of 13 teams at the Lawrence County Tournament.

Crawford County will again ask voters to approve a 1% sales tax to reduce local emergency services’ reliance on property taxes.

The county board has voted to add a referendum asking permission to establish a public safety sales tax to the March primary ballot. The vote was taken during a special meeting Nov. 24 with Tim Bennett casting the sole nay vote.
