Just remember, others pride their schedules as much as you do yours, so do your best to retract your claws if they try to sway you to ignore your to-do list. A midair swipe should be enough to remind them that your needs matter, too.

POWER IN PAUSE – You’ve heard it before: don’t give everything away; give just enough to keep the reader engaged and turning pages until the last. In a practical sense, today will be about balancing how much to share in your writing and when to divulge the pieces that leave your readers wanting more.

But this pull needn’t be entirely literal. It may also be important to set boundaries for yourself and your writing. Perhaps that boundary sets aside time to get some writing done; or it could be a reminder that you need to contemplate some story elements before you blithely put pen to paper… only to have to rewrite it all later because you were too hasty in your ex*****on.

THREE OF CUPS – As our sun heads into Gemini, today is a good day for the social aspects of writing. If you collaborate with others—through co-writing relationships, writing groups, reader groups, posting excerpts for feedback, etc.—this is a good time to socialize over your story. In that same vein, please remember to thank your collaborators. Gratitude is key to prolonging and supporting those cherished relationships.

If you’re on the hermit’s end of the writer spectrum or simply not in a place to collaborate with others today, you can expand your momentum on your own. Perhaps, rather than an external community, the Three of Cups points toward your collaboration with your characters. You may find that a single character’s storyline rises to the surface and captures your attention, finally harnessing your focus to tell that aspect of the tale. You can still express your gratitude for the abundance that got you that much farther in your storytelling. Rewards are more rewarding when they’re shared and appreciated.

WRITING WREADING for 05.18.2026. 🔮 Writing may come with some complications today, but knowledge is power, right? If you know it’s coming, you can watch for it and avoid unnecessary detours—or at least get back on track more quickly. You may interpret for yourself or read what I gleaned below…

THE MOTH WAS VICTORIOUS. – This card may look like a death sentence to any real writing progress, but it has saved my day in the past just by showing up. If you find yourself worrying away at something like a dog with a bone, stop yourself before you waste too much time on it, and reserve that project for later. It’s okay to hit the pause button and come back to something that isn’t going smoothly (actually, I recommend it). You may be able to work through another element of your tale more easily instead, and you can always return to the trouble spot later, when things will hopefully proceed with better flow.

You already know you don’t have to write your story from start to finish. So, bookmark whatever isn’t readily coming together for you, and give yourself the grace to return to it at another time. You’ll get more done if you move like water; don’t stay dammed up—just float downstream.

QUEEN OF PENTACLES – With the abundantly communicative aspect of Mercury heading into Gemini, the new ideas abounding as Mercury conjuncts Uranus, and the heightened appreciation of others’ needs that comes from the Venus-Chiron sextile, the Queen of Pentacles fits rights in and bodes really well for the craft today.

We’ve had some king energy of late—which bolsters the physical action of writing; this queen energy places the focus on the internal machinations driving your craft.

Especially with the new moon yesterday, this is a great time for introspection and goal-setting for your story. Look, we can't all be editors. Even if we can clean up our work, only an objective set of eyes can perform that final polish.

I WATCHED COKE BUBBLES FOR A SOLID HOUR – Today’s card may point to divine inspiration, or your success may simply result from a realization that comes from a renewed assessment of your story.

Sometimes, as you incessantly mull over something you perceive as an issue, you finally have a breakthrough that puts it right to bed. You’re probably closer to solving the problem than you think. You may need to make a small tweak—either to your tale or to your way of thinking about the problem—but you may already have the foundation you need to render this supposed issue moot.

Take a breath, give the problem some space, and see if you can approach it with a fresh perspective instead of continuing to spiral. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised by how little you must do to fix it… if it’s even a problem at all.
