These 3 things get in the way of interpreting the Bible correctly ⬇️ (I’ve learned these things through out my walk with Christ + reading the Bible)

1. Not reading the entire book of the Bible: context is so important when reading the Bible. I can’t tell you the amount of times I knew a verse but when I went and read the verse for myself and the context of the verse, it completely changed the way I interpreted that verse! 🤯 cherry picking verses and not knowing the context is dangerous territory!

2. Forgetting that the Bible was inspired by the spirit of God: I’m sure you’ve heard people say “I don’t trust the Bible, it was written by men!” … It was written through men BY the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 3:16–17 Says: All Scripture is God-breathed . . . so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

3. Reading it like we read any other book: I’ll insert a quote here that beautifully explains this —> “the Bible is God’s covenant book, that it is God’s word to his people, through his people, and it is understood by his Spirit in order to change us. Each of those elements should guide the way we read the Bible. And they provide the framework for applying some of the skills of general reading that we should bring to our Bible reading.” - John McClean

Struggling to read the Bible? TAP IN 🤝

1. First things first… always PRAY before and after reading Scripture! I cannot stress this enough 😮‍💨 You want to be dependent on the Holy Spirit to bring clarity and knowledge when reading the Bible. Do not depend on your own knowledge and understanding… that’ll only take you so far!

2. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The Bible can feel intimidating to some because there are questions people have that they just aren’t asking. Ask the questions, do the research, and most importantly bring it to the Lord.

3. Translations! Some people have their own opinions about using certain translations (topic for another day 😉), but when choosing a translation that works for you, always ask yourself: “Do I prefer word-for-word or thought-for-thought?”That’ll help you narrow down which translations may work best for you.

The Bible doesn’t have to be as complicated or intimidating as some make it seem. Sometimes it’s just about finding your rhythm and staying consistent. Don’t overthink it! 🤍
