We were saddened to learn yesterday of the passing of Latriste Fulton. She was 58. Marc Iacona, Producer and Executive Director, said, “Latriste had such a wonderful heart and creative spirit. I was proud to call her a friend and work with her over the past several years. She was a wonderful soul.”
Latriste was scheduled to play at this year’s festival on opening night at 9:30 PM at the Wegmans Pavilion. It would have been Latriste’s fourth appearance at our festival. She made her debut in 2022 and also played in 2023 and 2024. Her band played high-energy blues, rock, pop, disco, soul, reggae, R&B, and great originals.
She had a big following at our festival, and we will miss her. Our thoughts are with her family and friends. We thank her for her service to our nation and for all the joyful times she brought to our audiences over the years.
Jimmie Highsmith Jr., also a festival favorite, will be playing in her place on June 19th at 9:30 PM at Wegmans Pavilion, located in Rochester Regional Health Rhythm Square. This is a free show. No tickets are required. We look forward to welcoming you to this concert as we all remember Latriste. https://rochesterjazz.com/artists/jimmie-highsmith-jr/
