Home is where the heart is — for me, that’s both figurative and literal.

There’s a kind of magic in being home—it's like a warm hug.

In nearly 23 years of active military service, I’ve spent only 8 Thanksgivings at home.

When I look at that through an Army lens, it feels like a lot. But when I think about the 21 years before I joined, when I was home every single one, it feels even more substantial.

No matter the number, I’m grateful for every holiday—however few—God has allowed me to spend at home.

Thankful for every moment.�Love these turkeys.�Grateful to serve.
�Never taking any of it for granted.

We had an unforgettable night at the Macy’s x Haddad Rookie Kids Runway on Broadway Fashion Show during New York Fashion Week.

Hosted by Ciara and filled with familiar faces like Russell Wilson, Busta Rhymes, and Lil Kim, Herald Square was transformed into a runway of pure joy and inspiration.

💫 I was so proud to attend alongside my husband and son — and to cheer for my dear friend and her incredible daughter, who lit up the runway. Mara continues to be such an example of strength, authenticity, and heart both on and off the stage, and I’m so grateful for the friendship we’ve built through pageantry.

I’m grateful to Mara - she showed me that confidence starts young and grows stronger when it’s wrapped in love and purpose. I hope to be the same fun loving, supportive momma to Christian 💋

“Megan Dems is the reigning Miss Syracuse for America Strong 2025, a Staff Accountant, and an MBA student at Syracuse University. As a model, speaker, and community advocate, Megan uses her platform Voices Against Violence to support survivors of domestic and economic abuse across New York State.

She has partnered with Vera House, the Women’s Opportunity Center, and multiple local charities through speaking engagements, volunteer work, and fundraising efforts. Megan is also active in her church community, where she mentors young women and leads conversations on faith, confidence, and digital wellness.

Beyond her advocacy, Megan is an experienced fashion and editorial model, walking in runway shows across New York and appearing in regional publications. She strives to blend grace, leadership, and purpose in every space she steps into—whether on stage, in the classroom, or within the community.”
