ABC 6 NEWS is owned by the pioneering broadcasting company Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. Channel 6 signed on the air August 17, 1953 with the call letters KMMT, and in 1975 the call letters were changed to KAAL. ABC 6 NEWS, an ABC network affiliate, serves southeastern Minnesota and northern Iowa with local news, weather, and sports coverage daily.

The U.S. military launched airstrikes and Iran retaliated following the crash of an Army helicopter, blamed on a collision with an Iranian drone near the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Iran is taking “too long to negotiate a deal” and that “now they will have to pay the price.” A top Cuban diplomat meanwhile tells The Associated Press that Trump is waging “a war without bombs” as a pretext for military intervention, even though Cubans pose no threat. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for most of Southeastern Minnesota until 7:00 AM this morning.

Scattered wind gusts of 70 mph or greater will be possible, along with 1.5" in diameter hail, and while storms remain more elevated in nature, a tornado or two can not be ruled out.

Have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings if one is issued for your area over the next few hours, and keep it handy after the watch expires, this is just round #1. More details on round #2 coming up so stay tuned!
