This week on my podcast, It's a Lot, mom & business owner Kat Eddy returns for an honest conversation about what having two kids under two has actually looked like for her since having her second child in July 🩷 In this episode, we chat about: postpartum anxiety, kids being hilarious, how hard the newborn stage can be on relationships, the upsides of going back to work after maternity leave, and more.

One of my favorite reads in October doesn't come out til 2026, but you should absolutely preorder it. JOURNEY TO TOMIOKA by Lauren Galandon, illustrated by Michael Crouzat, is a beautiful story about a boy taking an epic journey to return his grandma's ashes to her home in the Fukushima Exclusion Zone. Our protagonist, Osamu, is undeterred by every grownup and hurdle that stands in his way, befriending yokai and radiation alike to do what's right for his grandmother 🩵

The art is beautiful and the story is so well done. Preorder it here: https://bookshop.org/a/315/9781250406712

This week on It's a Lot, I talk to food entrepreneur, podcaster, and dad Pauly Guglielmo about doing things that scare you, paternity leave, the small daily joys of fatherhood, and how we're trying not to traumatize our kids. It was such a fun conversation! Listen now wherever you get your podcasts 🩷💀🫠

Looking for a bit of escapism lately? Desperately need a happy ending? Check out LADIES IN HATING by Alexandra Vasti. This romance novel features two gothic novelists, one of whom (Lady Georgiana) is livid that the other appears to be stealing details and plots from her work. When she learns that the woman behind the pen name is her teenage crush, things get fun 😁🩷 Don't miss this one if you love mysteries, gothic novels, dogs, sapphic love stories set in the 1800s, and partners loving each other unconditionally as they heal from trauma.

I've followed social media consultant Jon-Stephen Stansel's work for a long time, so I was stoked when he said he would join me on my podcast, IT'S A LOT, to chat about his experiences with social media and parenthood!

In the episode, we discuss the human touch that social media requires, toxic fandoms, taking care of your mental health when you work in social media, toxic masculinity in fatherhood content, wanting your kid to be bored sometimes, and more. The episode is out now!

I had a blast working with World Animal Protection Canada this year! I love working with nonprofits making a real difference in the world, and they work hard advocating for animals every day 🧡 I so appreciate this wonderful testimonial from their Communications Manager 🥹

Happy September! If you're a new parent (or soon-to-be parent, or just someone thinking about becoming a parent someday), looking for a great book to read, then I highly recommend KID GLOVES: NINE MONTHS OF CAREFUL CHAOS by Lucy Knisley. This graphic memoir does an amazing job highlighting how hard it can be to get pregnant, how little our current education system teaches women about our bodies, how common miscarriages are, how lacking our research on women's health is, and much more, all while relating the personal experiences of the author. I found myself nodding, yelling YES at the book occasionally, and laughing, too.

Experienced marketer, writer, and social media strategist, at your service.

Hi! I’m Emily Hessney Lynch.

I’m a reader, writer, avid social media user. I was an early adopter of Twitter and have been fiendishly tweeting away since 2008.

I love using social media to craft a compelling story, told in an authentic voice that's true to your brand. I'm an expert in content creation and curation, community management, and blogging.

I'm here to help you with your social media. Or your emails. Or to write something for you. Really, anything with words and the internet is kind of my jam.
