When I was 12 years old, I saw a news reporter by my house covering a story about a serious car crash. After they finished reporting, I approached the reporter and began to ask questions. I was curious about their job, their equipment, and how they did their jobs. Since then, I knew that I wanted to cover news and be a reporter. I eventually got an iPhone, which made me able to film and take pictu
res while covering stories. I began to follow police officers throughout the city, going to numerous calls, and covering news. I was filming crime scenes, car crashes, and house fires. I was so excited about my new passion, that I even went to local recreation centers trying to get kids to do what I was doing. One of my first big scenes was in October of 2016, I was 14 years old. I was just riding my bike waiting for something to come in, when I heard on the police scanner a report of shots fired. I was nervous at first about going, but then I saw all the police cars rushing to the scene. I decided to go. As I got to the scene of the shooting, I was getting footage, when I noticed this guy taking pictures of me. I introduced myself, and he introduced himself. His name was John, he was a reporter with the Democrat and Chronicle. John began to ask me questions and asked how I covered all the stories I do. After talking to him for a little bit, we parted ways and I went about my day. Then, two days later, John posted a story about me in the Democrat and Chronicle. The story was about me being the youngest journalist in Rochester. I was excited, my work was being seen by not only the few fans I had at the time, but by other reporters. But with the article being released, thousands of people saw the article. I began to get phone calls, emails, and people were congratulating me on my drive to report the news. That was when the GSL News began.
