June 26, 2025, has been selected as the World Refrigeration Day (WRD), the theme of which is “Cool Skills.” The contributions of engineers around the world personally affect each and every one of us, making our lives better in every conceivable way. This is why, World Refrigeration Day (WRD) has been set aside to recognize the birth date of William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin on June 26, 1824, also recognized as Lord Kelvin in refrigeration world. The World Refrigeration Day (WRD) is an international day established to raise awareness about the importance of refrigeration technologies in day-to-day life. June 23rd, 2025, has been selected as the International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), the theme of which is “Together We Engineer.” The vital contributions of women engineers around the world personally affect each and every one of us, enhancing our lives better in every conceivable way. This is why, International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) launched on June 23rd, 2014, in UK as a national campaign by Women’s Engineering Society (WES), has seen tremendous growth - gaining UNESCO patronage in 2016 and achieving global recognition in subsequent year. The International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) is an international day established to promote outstanding work women engineers across the globe are doing in day-to-day life. ASHRAE Rochester - April Refrigeration Night Event at Wegmans 4/14

Our April Meeting will be hosted by our Refrigeration Committee. This month, we will be meeting at the Wegmans Corporate Event Center for dinner and a refrigeration-themed technical presentation. Following the presentation, we will be hosting a refrigeration systems site tour at the Wegmans Distribution Center at 1500 Brooks Avenue. The tour portion of this event will be limited to 30 people. You must attend the dinner & presentation to also attend the site tour.

Update for 2024-25: In order to continue providing the same great monthly Rochester Chapter meeting experience we have provided over the past few years, the event ticket price adjustment will be implemented this year to keep up with rising event costs. This year, monthly event tickets will be $45 for ASHRAE Society Members and $55 for non-members and guests per event. When registering for the event, please select the appropriate ticket for each person attending.

Good Morning,
Rochester ASHRAE Chapter 011 Region I,

As we start a new week, I would like to express sincere thank you to each individual for the amount of work put together each day. The week of February 16th – 22nd is deemed National Engineers Week and is a time to recognize the arduous work that you put in every day. We work in a very dynamic challenging industry, where the good news is mostly no news. The last few years have presented our world with new challenges that you all hold the keys to decipher & solve successfully. The next several years will present us with more of the same, and how our community responds are going to have a reflective impact on our planet. It is an excellent time to be an Engineer to serve the planet.

Also, this “National Engineers Week” is acknowledged by our local government as well as community. Please see a combined proclamation received from City of Rochester and Monroe County, officially declaring the week of February 16th as National Engineers Week by both authorities.
