The Clover School District (CSD) Board of Trustees last night renewed the contract of Superintendent Dr. Sheila Quinn and accepted her decision to retire.
Dr. Quinn has served as CSD’s Superintendent since July 1, 2018, successfully navigating the instructional challenges of a global pandemic, passing a school bond referendum in 2022 and overseeing the construction of three new schools that opened earlier this month.
Dr. Quinn said, “It has been the high point of my career to serve as the Superintendent of the Clover School District. This is a bittersweet moment because I love this little town with ‘LOVE’ in the middle. I appreciate the support of the entire CSD community during my tenure and look forward to offering my assistance to my successor.”
Rob Wallace, Chair of the CSD Board of Trustees, said, “Dr. Quinn was an amazing hire for our school district. We appreciate the leadership she has provided to our community over these last eight years. While we’d love to see her stay in this role, we completely understand her need to enjoy retirement and all that it includes.”
A specific retirement date has not yet been determined, as Dr. Quinn has agreed to continue to serve the district during an overlap period with her successor to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
The Board of Trustees will now enter into a Superintendent search process that will explore all options available to them. This could include anything from informal conversations to state or national searches.
Prior to becoming Superintendent, Dr. Quinn served as the South Carolina State Deputy Superintendent for Innovation and Effectiveness. In this role, she led the Offices of Assessment, Accountability and Data Analysis; Educator Effectiveness and Leadership; School Transformation; and Personalized Learning.
From January 2010 to July 2014, Dr. Quinn worked as Clover’s Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Administrative Services. During her initial tenure in Clover, she served as President of the Instructional Leaders Roundtable for the South Carolina Association of School Administrators and was named District Administrator of the Year for that organization. Dr. Quinn also served 18 years in Rock Hill Schools as a teacher, administrator, Director of K-12 Curriculum, and Executive Director for Middle and Secondary Education.
Dr. Quinn holds a B.A. in English and Secondary Education from Winthrop University; a Master’s in Education Administration from Winthrop University; and an Ed.D. from Gardner-Webb University. Dr. Quinn has also worked as an adjunct professor in the master’s and doctoral programs for Educational Leadership at Gardner-Webb University.
