Here's a 1.5 minute sample recording of Mark Rapp and his jazz band playing at the DOWNTOWN JAZZ JAM Second Anniversary Celebration Sunday night at Slow Play Brewing in Rock Hill. We had an enthusiastic crowd. As the band performed, Mark also talked about some interesting aspects of jazz music. Afterward, there was a great open jazz jam session, and we'll share photos and recordings of the jam soon. Our next event is Dec 7.

Thanks to awesome trumpeter Mark Rapp and his jazz band for leading our DOWNTOWN JAZZ JAM Second Anniversary Celebration Sunday night at Slow Play Brewing in Rock Hill. We had a fun jazz clinic, concert, and jam session. Great crowd! Here are a few photos of the clinic and concert. We'll post more photos and video soon. Mark leads ColaJazz Foundation. TOP TEN things to remember about today's DOWNTOWN JAZZ JAM.
1. We're celebrating our second anniversary of monthly open jazz jams in downtown Rock Hill!
2. Trumpeter extraordinaire Mark Rapp, SC Ambassador of Jazz, will lead our clinic, concert, and jam session.
3. Musicians of all ages and skill levels are welcome. (Those under 21 years old should be accompanied by an adult)
4. It happens 6-8 pm today (Nov 2) at Slow Play Brewing in Rock Hill.
5. It's free for musicians to participate and for the public to enjoy the music! (Food and drink available for purchase)
6. Please bring a camp chair in your car trunk, in case we have a big crowd.
7. We'll have drums, keyboard, PA, and amps!
8. Our goals are to help musicians improve their skills, give them experience playing in public, help them make musical contacts, and bring live jazz to the general public.

Special guest for our DOWNTOWN JAZZ JAM Second Anniversary Celebration will be the awesome trumpeter Mark Rapp. Mark and his band will lead a jazz workshop, concert, and jam session 6-8 pm Sunday Nov. 2 at Slow Play Brewing in Rock Hill. It's all free! Mark, an SC native, got music degrees from Winthrop University and the University of New Orleans. Mark has led the non-profit ColaJazz Foundation out of Columbia for 10 years, spreading the love of jazz through education and performance. He has worked with greats, such as Roy Hargrove, Wycliffe Gordon, Fred Wesley, Dave Brubeck, Esperanza Spalding, Don Braden, Dr. Michael White, Nate Smith, James Genus, and Trumpet Mafia.
