We had a fun time at the October DOWNTOWN JAZZ JAM. Lots of folks came out to listen to the music on a pleasant Sunday evening. Our next event is 6-8 pm Sunday November 2 at Slow Play Brewing in Rock Hill. Please note the change in location! It's our second anniversary celebration, and we have a special guest coming. Please stay tuned for more information.

If the weather is good for our October 5 DOWNTOWN JAZZ JAM 6-8 pm event, we will be on the patio at The Power House in Rock Hill. If the weather is bad, we will either be inside The Power House or possibly at a different location (due to possible construction inside The Power House).

We had a great crowd and lots of awesome musicians at the September DOWNTOWN JAZZ JAM at The Power House in Rock Hill. It was a nice evening for outdoor music. We'll post sample recordings soon.

If you're free this evening (Sun Sept 7), please come out for DOWNTOWN JAZZ JAM. It's 6-8 pm at The Power House in Rock Hill. Local musicians get together to play jazz standards. It's free. And parking is free at city Decks A and B. Food and drink are available for purchase. Hope to see you there!

One of our frequent wind instrument players, Jamin, shared these great jam session tips:

· Tune Up: Please tune to the piano or a tuner before we start and after breaks.
· Listen: The best jazz is about conversation. Listen to what others are playing and support them.
· Leader's Cues: Watch the session leader for count-offs, solo cues, and endings.
· Keep it Simple: It's not about playing the most notes. Focus on time, feel, and melodic ideas.
· Have Fun! This is a collaborative environment to learn and make music together.
