This is your reminder that you do not have to wait for the weather to cooperate before you start enjoying fall.

Order the seasonal drink. Light the candle. Make the soup. Put something on the calendar that gives you a reason to look forward to the weekend (even if you end up sweating the whole time).

We can romanticize September now and complain about the heat at the same time.

It’s full of my favorite local fall activities, sip and see combos, fall takeout and movie pairings, and features TONS of local businesses!

In this episode of You Can’t Make This Up: Realtor Edition…

I fill up the tank every other day and still run on E for a while. But miss a client call? Never.

I can lose my keys while they’re in my hand, but I can negotiate against a 65-year-old man who spent his entire career in C-suite finance without blinking.

I cannot remember why I walked into a room, but I can remember exactly what a house three counties over sold for six months ago.

I’ll search for my sunglasses while they’re on my head, then walk into a showing and immediately notice the water stain someone tried to paint over.

I can have 47 tabs open in my brain and still remember that your wife hated the kitchen in house #3 from three Saturdays ago.

I may be stranded on the side of the road, but if you text me “quick real estate question”, I am available.

Anyway, if you need a Realtor, I promise I manage your transaction better than I manage my gas gauge.

Someday, the photos you take in your home become the ones you pack up when it’s time to leave.

And I think that’s the part of selling a home we don’t talk about enough.

Before this 20-acre property in Gause, Texas had listing photos and a For Sale sign, it had babies bouncing in the doorway, family gathering under the trees, and years of ordinary days that eventually became the good old days.

These old photos aren’t perfect. They’re a little grainy and faded.

But they show something the professional photos never could — what it looked like when this place was simply home.

Now this little piece of Central Texas is waiting for someone new.

Someone to fill the yard again. To gather under these trees. To put their own pictures on the fireplace. To have a bunch of completely ordinary days here without realizing just yet how much they’ll miss them someday.

20 acres and a home in Gause, Texas.

One family’s chapter here is closing.

And somewhere out there is the person who gets to start the next one. ❤️

Tell me this isn’t the exact piece of Texas peace you’ve been dreaming about… 🌾✨

Nestled on 8.83 ag-exempt acres (Rockdale address, but located in the Milano school district!), this 3 bed, 2 bath home is the definition of room to breathe. Imagine starting your mornings on this front porch with a cold brew or a hot coffee, watching the sun come up over your own land.

It’s that rare sweet spot: complete country quiet, but under an hour to Austin, Temple, and College Station (and just 10 minutes into Rockdale for Friday night football or a quick trip to town to pick up an iced coffee and book to read on the front porch while the sun goes down!)

I’ve spent a lot of time out here this week, and I can tell you—it hits different when you find a home that actually helps you slow down and love where you live. 💜

Unpopular opinion: We don’t want to give our kids the world.

We want them to go get it.

Of course we want our kids to have more opportunities than we had. We want to help them. We want them to know that no matter how old they get, home is home and we are always in their corner.

But we also don’t want to rob them of the pride that comes from building a life for themselves.

We want to give them confidence without entitlement.

Opportunity without removing every obstacle.

A safety net without making it a hammock.

Financial knowledge instead of just handing them money.

Encouragement without teaching them that the world owes them something just because they showed up.

And enough freedom to make some mistakes while we’re still here to help them learn how to recover from them.

There are plenty of times we could make the call. Fix the problem. Pay for the thing. Step in. Smooth the road.

And sometimes we do.

But sometimes loving your kids means knowing you could fix it in five minutes and choosing to let them spend an hour figuring it out themselves.

That part is hard.

We don’t believe our kids need to struggle because we struggled. There’s no trophy for having a harder life.

But we do believe there are things you can only learn by doing hard things.

We want them to know how to hear “no” without falling apart.

How to want something they can’t afford yet.

How to save for it.

How to start at the bottom.

How to walk into a room where they don’t know anyone.

How to make the uncomfortable phone call.

How to ask the dumb question.

How to admit when they screwed up and then figure out how to make it right.

How to be disappointed and keep moving.

How to have a plan completely fall apart and make another plan.

We want them to be humble enough to know they don’t know everything and confident enough to figure out the things they don’t.

We want them to understand that failure isn’t an emergency.

That being uncomfortable isn’t always a bad thing.

That nobody is coming to hand them the life they want — but they are completely capable of building it.

We want them to call us. We want them to ask for advice. We want them to know that if everything goes sideways, Mom and Dad are here.

We just don’t want calling Mom and Dad to be their first solution to every problem.

Because someday we won’t be here to fix it.

And when that day comes, I hope the greatest thing we leave our kids isn’t money, property or anything else we spent our lives working for.

I hope it’s knowing Jesus. Work ethic. Common sense. Confidence. Humility. Resilience. Financial sense. The ability to solve a problem. And the absolute belief that when life knocks them down, they know how to get back up.

We want to be their safety net.

We just don’t want to be their ladder.

We don’t want to give our kids the world.

We want to give them the tools to go out and get it themselves.

And someday, we hope we get to sit back and watch them build a life even bigger than anything we could have handed them.
