Public service announcement: During their organizational meetings, all three of Coosa County's municipalities voted to keep their meeting schedules the same. As such, that means town meetings are held as follows:

- Goodwater Town Council: Second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Goodwater Community Center
- Kellyton Town Council: First Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at Kellyton Town Hall
- Rockford Town Council: Third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at Rockford Town Hall

All meetings are open to the public. Read more in this week's edition, available tomorrow.

Update: This dog has been reunited with his owner.

This male dog was found today in Kellyton on Coosa County Road 85. We need a foster home until the owners are found or to possibly rehome if the owners are not located. Please private message us if youโ€™re interested. He is very friendly.

Breaking news: Alexander City pedestrian killed in hit and run

Special to the News

A single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, has claimed the life of an Alexander City man.
Jerry L. Partee, 57, who was the pedestrian, was fatally injured when an unknown vehicle struck him while he was standing in the roadway. Partee was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 259 near the 12 mile marker, approximately one mile south of Alexander City, in Tallapoosa County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agencyโ€™s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

The vehicle involved in the crash left the scene and is still unknown at this time. If you have any information concerning this incident, please contact ALEA Troopers at 334-676-7250.
