Don’t forget how far you’ve come…and where you’re going.

My neighbors recently pressure washed the sidewalk in front of their house. On a walk one day, I looked down and noticed they had left a dirty spot in the shape of a smiley face on the cement, a reminder of how the sidewalk looked before it was cleaned. I had never noticed that the concrete had gotten that filthy, but what a difference now!

Of course, I thought of a way to turn this moment into a metaphor for our lives. We are often tough on ourselves, wondering why we aren’t perfect yet. “I should’ve known better,” and, “What was I thinking,” are frequent thoughts of mine. But if we look back, we can see who we were when we started out on our walk with the Lord, and how He has slowly changed our mindsets and behaviors toward a more abundant life. None of us are perfect, but we are being renewed each and every day.

So when you mess up, talk to Him about it. Then, remember how far God has led you and smile… He’s not about to give up on you. The road ahead is still being paved by the Master Architect of the Universe.

We wish everyone a happy Passover!

Yeshua (Jesus) shared His last Passover Seder with His disciples. Traditionally, four cups of wine (or grape juice) are blessed during the Seder, each carrying significance in retelling the story of the Hebrews’ exodus from Egypt:

1. The Cup of Sanctification
2. The Cup of Deliverance
3. The Cup of Redemption
4. The Cup of Praise

It was time for the blessing of the third cup, the cup of Redemption, and Yeshua chose that moment to communicate His intention of offering His body and blood to redeem His people.

“While they were eating, Yeshua took a piece of matzah, made the b’rakhah, broke it, gave it to the talmidim and said, “Take! Eat! This is my body!” Also he took a cup of wine, made the b’rakhah, and gave it to them, saying, “All of you, drink from it! For this is my blood, which ratifies the New Covenant, my blood shed on behalf of many, so that they may have their sins forgiven. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
