Obituary
Altagracia Carrillo Rodríguez, better known as Grace, was born April 3, 1940 to Manuel & Ignacia Roman Carrillo in Nueva Palestina, Coahuila Mexico. She was one of 12 children that grew up on their family homestead. She spoke of how they would walk long distances to attend school and come home to work in the fields that raised sugar cane, corn and other crops.
She married Nicolas Rodriguez and they immigrated to the United States where she and Nick raised 3 children (Joe, Olga & Caroline) on ranches where he worked throughout the Dakotas before moving to Texas. She was a homemaker but also worked in local restaurants and did house cleaning to help provide for her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed taking walks with friends, spending time with her grandchildren, embroidery, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables and she loved to dance.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel & Ignacia Roman Carrillo; brothers, Cresencio Carrillo, Juan Carrillo and Jesus Manuel Carrillo; sisters, Rafaela Martinez, Lorenza Gutierrez, Irene Obiedo, Catalina Murillo, Anselma Zuniga; son, Benito Rodriguez; granddaughter, Suzy Bollinger and grandson, Juan Esai Ramirez.
Those left to carry on her memory are her brother, Nicanor Carrillo of San Angelo, TX; sisters, Josefa Zuniga of Del Rio, TX and Elva Hernandez of Mansfield, TX; son, Joe Rodriguez and wife Mary of San Marcos; daughter, Olga Brown and husband John of Sedgewickville, MO, Caroline Ramirez and husband Julio of Rocksprings, TX; granddaughter, Terri Wilson and husband Jason of San Marcos, TX; grandson, Billy Bollinger and wife Lori of Del Rio, TX, Eliana Ramirez and partner Cameron Mason of San Angelo, Tx; great-grandchildren include, Andrew and Sara Wilson of San Marcos, TX, Elise Bollinger, Tristan Bollinger, John Bollinger, Brayden Bollinger and Mia Bollinger of Del Rio, TX and numerous nieces & nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held June 24, 2025 at Nelson Funeral Chapel, Rocksprings, Texas. A luncheon will be held at the First Baptist Church after the service.
