"Just Shine, Little Moon"
There once was a little fairy prince who lived among the mushrooms and flowers. He liked to talk to the sky and his friends the moon and the stars. The prince would often fly up near them and look down upon the forests of the world. One day the moon was so sad and dim and dark.
“Why are you so dim, dear one?” The prince asked.
“I am so sad because I am not bright like the Sun.”
The moon cried large tears that shone like diamonds glittering in the ocean as they fell to the earth. The moon’s crown was cracked and falling apart, held here and there with bits of starlight. The prince looked softly at the moon and thought for a very long moment before he said:
“Just flow, dear moon. Go with what you know. Stay calm and try to breath. Don’t feel like you need to be like anyone else, don’t feel like you need to ‘do’ like anyone else.”
The moon’s tears slowed a bit.
“It’s ok to just sit and be in the moments by yourself, dear one. Heal. Move. Grow.”
The moon’s tears slowed almost to stopping. The prince continued.
“You may not be a burning star like the Sun, but you are gentle and calm and the animals thrive from your guidance at the dusking of horizon after horizon. The flowers seek the cool of the shade as they fold in for the night. The children swiftly returning home hearts content from play.”
The moon’s tears stopped, and the small cracks in her crown began to fade.
“Growth, dear one. Growth is abundance surviving the droughts of loss and grief.”
“But when will I know that I’ve healed?” She asked the prince.
“Just shine little moon. Shine until the day you no longer think about the cracks. Just shine little moon, doing your part to shed light into the darkest corners of the heart.”
“Thank you dear friend” She said, bowing to the prince, “I do feel more myself now. I wonder if others feel that way too?”
“I’m sure they do, dear one, but I know you’ll be there to light their way.”
The moon smiled and the world was just a little brighter that night.
