Garry Clark, Sr. Is former lead vocalist for The Mighty Peacemakers Band, a top leading Washington, D.C. Go-go band that originated in the 70s/80s. Najmah Rashad is former CEO of Love TV and Ma’at Academy, venues that housed go-gos and private affordable education that taught true aboriginal teachings, ballet and martial arts to the youth in the Washington, D.C.Metropolitan Area, on Georgia Avenue in N.W. Washington, DC, Lake Arbor, Maryland and Landover, Maryland in the early 2000s. Go-go was originated by aboriginal musicians in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area during the mid-1960s to late-1970s and continues to date. Go-go used to have a limited popularity in other areas, but now maintains a devoted audience internationally as a uniquely regional music style and was named the official music of Washington, D.C., in February 2020. Performers associated with the development of the style of go-go include The Mighty Peacemakers Band, Mass Extinction Band, Petworth Band, Ayre Rayde Band, Hot Cold Sweat, The Junk Yard Band, AM/FM, Redds and the Boys, Essence, E.U., Trouble Funk, and the Chuck Brown Band.
