Weekend dates tend to go first, especially for DJs and larger productions that include lighting, photo experiences, and multiple services together.

Weekday events are also worth considering. You’ll usually have more date options, better venue availability, and your team doesn’t have to give up a weekend.

"The coordinator said it was fine" is not the same as having it in writing.

Different manager on duty, different answer, and now you are solving it four hours before doors.

Five questions worth asking your venue before you sign anything else: power circuits, dock closing time, ceiling height, sound cap, and restrictions in writing. Doesn't matter if it's a holiday party, a mitzvah, or a corporate launch, the venue asks the same questions either way.

The most dangerous moment at a holiday party is the 10 minutes after the speeches end.

The room is seated. Someone has to turn that back into a party. If nobody planned for it, people stand up and go get their coats.

That is not a DJ problem or a booth problem. It is a nobody-talked-to-each-other problem.

The most common load-in problem on a corporate launch is not a lack of power. It is that the power is already spoken for.

Lighting, a photo experience, a DJ, and a caterer’s warming setup all draw from somewhere, and when two of those land on the same circuit, you find out at the worst possible time.

One question to your venue prevents most of it: how many separate circuits are available, and where. We ask it before anything else gets planned.

You can tell within about ninety minutes whether a holiday party is going to work.

If dinner is loud before it is served, you are fine. If the room is polite at 7:30, you are going to be watching people leave at nine.

The difference is almost never budget. It is whether anything gave guests a reason to get up and move in the first hour.

What we will ask for is ten minutes on the phone with them before the event, because the gap between the speeches ending and the dance floor starting is where more holiday parties fall apart than any other moment.

Most objections are like this. Workable, if they come up in November instead of on the night.
