If you had the opportunity to meet Michelle Obama, what would you ask?
Jonathan Spires, a Montgomery College’s student and current Editor-In—Chief of the MC Takoma Park/Silver Spring newspaper, had the opportunity to meet and ask two questions to Michelle Obama.
The event moderated by Grown-ish actress and activist Yara Shahidi was held on November 9th, 2021. Twenty-two students were selected to have a conversation centered around Obama’s 2018 memoir, Becoming.
Spires reached out to the community on the two questions to ask, and these were the questions:
“Which roles and jobs would Obama suggest young people aim to occupy in order to benefit their community.”
“How to get one’s community to use the resources available to them.”

In today's episode, we had Miranda Garcia hosting her first podcast at the Advocate. She interviewed the English professor, Dr. Elizabeth Benton, on the Humanities Day's Event called "What Happened to You: What Can We Learn from Post-traumatic Wisdom". Miranda discusses how trauma works, how we may have been affected by the pandemic, and the post-traumatic wisdom we can learn from that.

Editor in chief Danielle Costa, attended on October 28th, the “Critical Race Theory – Reframing the Narrative” forum. The forum was available for students, faculty, staff, and community guests in a LIVE format. The forum aimed to informed what critical race theory is and is not.
In this article, Danielle narrates her experience attending the forum: “As students, we ask, why? All the misconceptions feel almost like a driving force leading us to fear Critical Race Theory. It is possible to smell it in the air, but we do not even know why we should be afraid of it. Aware of this, the forum intended to answer all the questions that many of us may have and examine what critical race theory (CRT) is—and what it is not.”
