Montgomery College Student, Jonathan Spires, Participates in the Event: Conversation with Michelle Obama

If you had the opportunity to meet Michelle Obama, what would you ask?

Jonathan Spires, a Montgomery College’s student and current Editor-In—Chief of the MC Takoma Park/Silver Spring newspaper, had the opportunity to meet and ask two questions to Michelle Obama.

The event moderated by Grown-ish actress and activist Yara Shahidi was held on November 9th, 2021. Twenty-two students were selected to have a conversation centered around Obama’s 2018 memoir, Becoming.

Spires reached out to the community on the two questions to ask, and these were the questions:
“Which roles and jobs would Obama suggest young people aim to occupy in order to benefit their community.”
“How to get one’s community to use the resources available to them.”

Check out the story to read about Obama’s answers, and learn more about Spires experience.
