Our story starts long before the music stores on H Street or Veirs Mill Road. In the early days, Chuck was working in his parents’ pawn shop — a place packed with odds and ends and, tucked on the back wall, a few guitars you can spot just behind his mother in this photo.

Those guitars weren’t the focus then, but they lit a spark — the idea that music brings joy, connects people, and makes every day a little brighter.
That spark became something Chuck would say often: Music Is a Happy Business.

It shaped the store he and Marge built, the community we serve, and the way we still do things today. 🎶

The Omega Studios’ Story

Our Studio was founded in 1968 in Kensington, Maryland. In 1985, we moved to our current 5-room location in Rockville, Maryland. We maintain professional Recording Studios, three main record rooms, mastering room, MIDI room, surround room, all equipped with Pro Tools HD systems. Traditional analog recorders and signal processing, vintage microphone collection, professionally tuned listening environments. All styles of music recording done, from full orchestra recordings to jazz, world, funk, reggae, rock, pop, dance, worship, country, folk, bluegrass, hip hop, and more.

We also feature a School of Applied Recording Arts & Sciences that was founded in 1977. Our programs range from Audio Engineering and Music Production, to Live Sound, MIDI, Music Business, and more. We provide training to anyone who wants to become a professional in the Music Industry.
