Many Rocky Mount residents on Thursday went to a meeting with city councilmembers to learn why the city had a multmillion-dollar shortfall as documents from the state showed how far back the financial issues went.

Below is an update of information on services for Reverend Thomas L. Walker.

Reverend Dr. Thomas L. Walker's family wish to invite family and friends to join them on Friday, September 26, 2025 for a Meet and Greet from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at The Assembly@9121 located at 9121 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, North Carolina

Reverend Thomas L. Walker will lie in state from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at The Rocky Mount Event Center, located at 285 NE Main Street, Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

A celebration of Reverend Walker's Life and Legacy will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at The Rocky Mount Event Center, located at 285 NE Main Street, Rocky Mount, North Carolina beginning at 12:00 noon. The interment for Reverend Walker will immediately follow the service in the Buster and Bonnie Family Garden, Nashville, North Carolina.

It is with deep sadness we are posting the passing of our dearest former announcer and forever friend Rev. Thomas L. Walker. Rev. Walker was one of the founding partners in Northstar Broadcasting, as well as, one of the first 5 announcers for Northstar Broadcasting's WRSV 92.1 FM (Soul 92)! Our founder Charles O. Johnson was the producer of Rev. Walker and the Ebenezer Baptist Church's "One Day at a Time" album in which there were a list of hits especially the title song. Proceeds from the album were used to finish the current Ebenezer Baptist Church building. Rev. Walker has been a close friend of the Johnson family for over 51 years! To Mrs. Walker and the entire Walker family our Love, Prayers and Deepest Sympathies to you! 🙏❤️
