We are excited to announce that our new HEN-brand nozzles have officially been placed in service. These nozzles represent a significant technological advancement in firefighting, producing larger water droplets that improve fire suppression efficiency.

In addition, the nozzles allow firefighters to quickly adjust the spray pattern to a blade-style stream, enabling a sweeping motion across interior spaces to extinguish fire more rapidly and safely.

We would like to sincerely thank our community for making the purchase of this equipment possible and for your continued support of our department.

Great news! 🎉
The Rocky Point Volunteer Fire Department has officially regained its 501(c)(3) status, and it has been retroactively reinstated to November 15, 2024.

Due to circumstances out of our control, we were informed on November 15th, 2024, that our 501(c)(3) status had been lost. During a transition between accounting firms, our previous accountant did not file the required paperwork properly. Throughout this entire process, we have remained fully transparent with both the county and our citizens, and we will continue to operate with that same transparency moving forward.

Our volunteer staff have worked tremendously hard over the last year to get this corrected, dedicating countless hours to ensuring everything was handled properly and professionally. We couldn’t be more proud of their effort and commitment.

Thank you to everyone for your patience, understanding, and continued support. We are proud to serve our community.

The Rocky Point Fire Department’s first-ever Community Day was a tremendous success for both our department and the community we proudly serve.

On Friday, as crews were preparing for the event, we were dispatched at 1:30 p.m. to assist New Hanover County Fire Rescue and the Wilmington Fire Department with district coverage due to a large fire in downtown Wilmington. The members who remained in Rocky Point continued event preparations, detailing apparatus and completing final touch-ups around the firehouse.

When the standby crew returned at 8:00 p.m., preparations continued late into the night and resumed early the following morning.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to our community, our dedicated department members, and the families of our volunteers for their support and hard work in making this event possible. We are excited to continue growing this event year after year!

High Fire danger across the state on Sunday. A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for most of the state on Sunday. Gusty west to northwest winds are expected at 20-35MPH with some gusts up to 40MPH on Sunday. Any fire that develops will quickly catch and spread. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. DO NOT BURN

Good Afternoon!

We’re all set for our Open House and Community Day this Saturday!

Rowdy Friday BBQ will be on site selling food to benefit Hortons Rehab Ranch, and we’ll have approximately 25 local artisans and small businesses setting up to sell their wares and products.

Our volunteers will be ready to provide firehouse tours, showcase our equipment, and answer any questions you may have about how we serve our community. You’ll also be able to check out our gear and tools, and even try out a real fire hose to see what it’s like!

We’ll also feature live extrication demonstrations, where you can watch our crews use the Jaws of Life to dismantle a car.

We’re excited for a great day and hope to see everyone this Saturday from 11 AM to 3 PM!

With Temperatures starting to cool down, we want to remind everyone to use electrical space heaters in a safe manner. Make sure there is plenty of room around the heaters and if at all possible do not use surge protectors unless last resort with heaters. To many plugs can cause overheating and shorts in electrical wiring.
If you use Gas, please make sure pilot lights are lit and working correctly and also make sure the heating mechanism is clean of dust and particles that could catch fire. Use a carbon monoxide detector in the home for early detection of issues when using gas appliances.
Kerosene heater should have plenty of space around them and please make sure they are turned off when filling them back up and clean any fuel that may have splashed so it doesn’t cause an issue.
Wood burning fire places should be maintained also with making sure you have no creosote build up in the chimney because of fire danger.
Please be careful and heat smart. Thank you to all in our community that support us and remember we have our meetings on Thursday nights at 7 pm. Public is always welcome to stop by and see our station and equipment.
