The Baird/STR Hotel Stock Index reported a 3.1% decrease to 3,079 in January. The index ended 2013 at 3,177.

Wyndham Worldwide reports a 10% gain in hotel revenue during Q4, though economy chain hotels saw slow growth in China. Stock today is down 4.6%.

In a note to investors,, R.W. Baird analyst David Loeb said he was disappointed in LaSalle Hotel Properties' investor day. "We believe investors left the event with many unanswered questions. Our 2014 estimates are coming down across the board to match LaSalle's updated guidance, and we are introducing 2015 estimates. Maintaining Neutral rating and $30 price target," he wrote.
