Grassroots Ecology volunteers have removing invasive plants down to a science. The conservation nonprofit counts on a steady supply of people power from volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to maintain many ecologically sensitive areas in Silicon Valley. At McClellan Ranch Preserve in Cupertino, NorCal joins a team of seasoned watershed stewards along the edges of Stevens Creek for a morning of fresh air and w**d eradication.

Made possible by a generous Safe, Clean Water and Natural Flood Protection grant from Valley Water

When San Jose volunteers feel the need to clean, is there to supply all the tools and services necessary to facilitate their anti-litter activism. Since trash and waterways are a bad look for neighborhoods, we tag along as an urban creek gets special attention from this blight reduction program of the San José Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department. Community Activity Worker Luz Juarez explains that neighbors “All have the same goal: to do something positive for our planet and our community.”

Made possible by a generous Safe, Clean Water and Natural Flood Protection grant from Valley Water (valleywater.org/learning-center/grants-partnerships).
