WKAL 1450 LISTEN LIVE to WKAL:

Listen and or watch live:
http:// Heritage radio station WKAL resumed broadcasting on March 11, 2014.

WKAL began broadcasting on November 25, 1946, and was the first radio station licensed to Rome, NY. WKAL was built by Mike Kallet, who also owned a chain of theaters that included the Capitol Theatre in Rome, NY. For many decades, WKAL served a vital role in Oneida County, informing its many listeners of local news stories as well as broadcasting entertainment and local sports events. Eventually,

WKAL became an automated religious station in 1999 until 2011, when the station ceased broadcasting. For the last two years, WKAL was off the air while new studios were located and built by the current owner, Tune In Broadcasting. In addition, the original call letters of the station, WKAL, were acquired from the FCC to preserve the heritage and lineage of the radio station. WKAL features both local programming and nationally syndicated programming, including Mike Gallagher, Doug Stephan, Sebastian Gorka, Mark Levin, The Dennis Prager Show, America Tonight, Mohawk Valley Sports Watch, WKAL Good Morning Show and Townhall/SRN News twice per hour. WKAL is licensed by the FCC to broadcast 1000 watts fulltime at 1450 AM and now on FM at 103.3, and is located at 1721 Black River Blvd., Rome, NY 13440.

at 394 Hangar Road, providing food, water, power, bedding and

medical services. Oneida County is also in the process of setting

up temporary offices for essential services in the city while

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente said on Thursday

they will maintain a presence in Rome. It’s going to

be a little bit smaller because of space limitations.

the Essential offices and services include mental health

treatment, social services, SNAP, public assistance and more.

Picente said some temporary offices have been set up on the

Griffiss Business and Technology Park — including at the Red

trailers in downtown to be more accessible.

Non-essential services include the courts and the

Department of Motor Vehicles, those services have temporarily located to Utica.

We are patiently awaiting for power to be restored ( hopefully Friday at some point ) so that we can return to the air on 1450 AM.

Our tower site narrowly missed the brunt of the tornado, supposedly this general area is where the tornado began.

We are very thankful for the power crews that have come in from other areas in order to assist in the clean up and repairs. We are very thankful to see the team effort from private citizens, businesses and local and state representatives to help bring Rome back together and most thankful that no one was injured or killed during Tuesdays tornado.

P.S. ....whoever is dumping old tires, garbage and trespassing on the property, you will be dealt with. Hidden cameras are recording.
