We are the student radio station for the University of Northwestern- St. Paul. Our radio station isn’t perfect, it’s run entirely by UNW students in Radio Workshop that are still learning how to run a radio station. The Remnant partners with KTIS the christian radio station of the University of Northwestern- St. Paul.
We are not KTIS. We do have our radio station in the same building as KTIS, which is probably why we do get confused a lot by the Christian adult contemporary station. Our target audience is the University of Northwestern’s college students.
We have three ways you can listen to the Remnant. We have our website, which is literally “theremnant.fm” you can literally put that in the URL of a browser and end up in our page online and be able to listen live to our station. You can download the TuneIn app on your phone and search the Remnant radio station and find our station. Our third option requires you have an HD radio. If you do have an HD radio (Which newer car models usually have now, besides the regular radio) you can tune in to 98.5 HD4.
What type of music do you play on the Remnant?
We don’t play the same type of music as KTIS. That’s another quick judgement people have without ever listening to our station. Our genre of music is varied, but for the most part we play a lot of indie music.
Some artist that we play on our station include: NF, Chance the Rapper, Switchfoot, Social Club of Misfits, Twenty-One Pilots, etc.
We also play some more local artists (Some of which are UNW alumni!) like: Ryan Lee Jones, Anna Carey, Katy Dahl, and Syvers.
Our radio station also plays some more obscure artist that have a Christian faith. Usually the artists we select to play, if they aren’t producing christian music, they have a christian faith. You can be certain that no swearing will appear in any of the music we play.
Our music is selected by students for students and we are proud of that.
So now that you know more about the Remnant, take a listen! :)
