As Military Appreciation Month comes to a close, the Fort Bend County East Lions Club was honored to sponsor yesterday’s Community Celebration & BBQ recognizing veterans, active duty military members, and their families.

Fort Bend County East Lions Club President Erika Gibson had the privilege of accepting a Resolution from Representative Ron Reynolds and a Proclamation from Councilwoman Marquette Greene Scott on behalf of Medal of Honor recipient Specialist Fifth Class Clarence Sasser, a Rosharon native whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire generations.

The Club looks forward to presenting the proclamation, resolution, and commemorative flag to the Sasser family in the coming weeks. It is also especially meaningful that a portion of FM 521 will be dedicated in his honor.

Special thanks to Felicia Moon Thomas for organizing such a wonderful event, and thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our nation. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Help us feed families this summer.

The Fort Bend County East Lions Club is proud to partner with New St. Philip Community Outreach and other community partners for the Food 4 Families 2026 Summer Program.

For many children, summer break means more than time away from school. It can also mean losing access to the meals they depend on during the school year. Families often face higher grocery costs during the summer, and food drives like this help fill that gap with love, dignity, and community support.

You can help by purchasing needed items directly from the Amazon wish list:

https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/26D3BB25FLPLT?ref_=wl_share

Every item donated helps support children and families in our community.

Food Distribution Details:
Date: June 6, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM until supplies last
Location: New St. Philip, 6135 Hwy 521 Rd., Arcola, TX 77583
To Register: Text food4families to 832-862-8656

Together, we are serving with heart, inspiring hope, and lifting lives.

Lions on the Move! 🦁👓

Fort Bend County East Lions Club President Erika Gibson, along with fellow Lion Sheila Smith, traveled to the VA Hospital in Houston to deliver and place a new eyeglass donation box.

This effort is part of the Lions’ long-standing commitment to vision care and service. Through the Lions eyeglass recycling program, gently used glasses can be collected, recycled, and placed back into service for individuals who need access to vision support.

This program is instrumental because something as simple as an unused pair of glasses can help someone read, work, learn, drive, and navigate daily life with greater independence. It is also a meaningful way to reduce waste while serving communities locally and globally.

If you have gently used prescription glasses, reading glasses, or sunglasses, we invite you to donate them and help us continue serving with vision.

Today, we honor the moms who go above and beyond every single day. 💐

To the military moms holding it down through deployments and sacrifice.
To the first responder moms answering the call while raising families.
To the working moms, single moms, grandmothers, bonus moms, caregivers, and community mothers who pour into everyone around them even when they’re running on empty.

Your strength, love, resilience, and service do not go unnoticed.

From all of us at the Fort Bend County East Lions Club, Happy Mother’s Day to the women who lead with heart and make our communities stronger every day. 💙💛
