Merry Wii-Mas! The Wii was such a good console. There was a lot of shovelware but even some of those were pretty good. I would definitely recommend Deadly Creatures if you’ve never tried it. It’s kind of neat being able to play as different bugs and animals. Castlevania Judgement does get a lot of …judgement… but it’s another one that if you can find it super cheap or free 🤷‍♂️ I’d recommend giving it a try. Also, Sin & Punishment. Play that one. It’s worth it.

Remember, friends don’t let their friends waggle their Wii-motes alone during the holidays. 🤷‍♂️

Cho Aniki Collection! Featuring the first two games Cho Aniki and Ai Cho Aniki which were originally released back in 1992 ( Cho Aniki) and 1995 (Ai Cho Aniki) for the PC Engine. The Cho Aniki Collection physical edition was released in 2024.

These games are definitely interesting 😂.

The shorter version lol. Clockwork Aquario is a video game (arcade) originally developed in 1992 but wouldn’t see an actual release till 2021 (I think that’s the right year lol). Strictly Limited bought the rights from Sega in 2017 and the rest is history.

Have you played this game?

Clockwork Aquario! An arcade game developed in 1992 that wouldn’t see the light of day till 30 years later. Apparently, this game holds a Guinness world record for the longest time from the start of a project to its release.

Have you played this game?

Rudolph wandered too far from the North Pole I think.

Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection! Released in 2006 and left in Japan. Another odd one that never made it across the ocean. Darkstalkers never garnered the popularity that the Street Fighter games enjoyed which could be the reason that this collection stayed in the Nippon. The artwork and character designs always blew my mind. This collection is the last official uncensored release for some of these titles as well (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on that 😉) which is the primary reason I picked it up…crinkled cover art and all lol.

I’m enjoying the uselessness of today, and readying my uselessness for tomorrow.

Analog is still ALIVE! 😂 In a time when digital isn’t always reliable and things disappear from storefronts on a regular basis analog will live on. Does anyone still own a VCR? I’m curious.

Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie! Released in 1993 for the Super Famicom Scrambled Valkyrie is one of those ridiculously good games that for some reason never left Japan. Maybe Macross wasn’t that well known in the west at the time or something 🤷‍♂️. I do remember watching a lot of Robotech though thanks to Toonami 😂. If you have any ideas as to why this game never left Japan feel free to let me know 👇.

Changeable Guardian Estique from Cat Hui Trading LLC and published by Broke Studio! If you love the NES/Famicom and you love shmups then I would recommend checking this one out. It’s not pictured here but the NES version is censored from the Famicom release to keep with that old school localization feel lol. Before you say anything about how that’s a sneaky way to make more money…How many times has Nintendo/Game Freak released fourteen different versions of the same Pokémon game and you bought every single one of them? I’m just pestering 😂.

It’s always good to see new amazing games pop up for the retro consoles. Are there any others that you would recommend? Let me know! Also, if you’re interested you can pick this up from Home Brew Factory.

Can a video game be fun and collectible? I know from personal experience that those two things don’t always go well together.

What are some more video games that are considered collector’s items but are actually fun to play?

Feel free to check out my Instagram to take a look at a bit of my personal collection.
