How GREAT is this?!

North Fulton Community Charities put word out last weekend that they needed frozen turkeys to feed those less fortunate.

The community responded and they were able to provide full Thanksgiving dinners to more than 600 families in need.

#Thanksgiving - Last weekend we put out an alert for frozen turkeys and this wonderful community responded immediately! We were able to provide full Thanksgiving dinners to more than 600 families in need. Special thanks to St. David's Episcopal Church for donating 295 turkeys! Also special thanks to Trader Joe's Roswell for donating 1200 bags!

Restaurateur Tom Colicchio predicts COVID could lead to "extinction level event" for restaurants

We've seen it happen here :(

The coronavirus pandemic has been devastating for independent restaurants, which have been forced to lay off employees or even permanently close amid stay-at-home orders imposed and reimposed in several states. Restaurateur Tom Colicchio thinks that unless the federal government steps in, "we're looking at an extinction-level event for restaurants."

Tom Colicchio is urging Congress to pass the bipartisan RESTAURANTS Act to aid the food service industry.

Go With The Flow has been in Roswell on Canton since 1983. We have learned they are moving off of Canton Street and relocating.

Downtown Roswell retail is dwindling...

Go With the Flow is relocating. This cool, unique business on the corner of Canton St & Elizabeth Way has been a cornerstone of the downtown Roswell experience since 1983!.

‼️And guess what is LIKELY taking it's place? You guessed it! ANOTHER restaurant! Yay....
Gypsy Rose Music Roswell, and Taylor Kinzel Gallery* have also recently left Canton St.

Other galleries and stores were priced out to accommodate for higher dollar restaurant space.

Along with great restaurants, businesses like this are the reason people want to visit, stroll, and hopefully spend money in Roswell. They bring needed balance and interest to Canton Street.

What can be done to encourage businesses- other than restaurants- to come to Canton St.? How can the City affect the long-term economic vitality and vibrancy of this area?

(*Thankfully, Taylor Kinzel is still online- on Facebook- and awesome!)

Christmas is going to be a little different this year.....virtual Santa visits, no large gatherings, etc. Instead of shopping Amazon or at a corporate brick and mortar store, how about shopping at locally-owned businesses? Ask friends and family for gift cards to clothing boutiques, bookstores, restaurants, movie theaters, salons, art venues or whatever you're into. There are so many that are struggling right now that this could help them make into the next year. Shop local.

How one restaurateur is serving up community relief
By Malika Bowling

The hospitality industry has arguably been one of the hardest hit industries from the global pandemic. Restaurants already facing tight margins, saw them shrink exponentially. Many restaurants were forced to close for good, not being able to make it much longer than a couple months. One restaurant group in North Fulton, RO Hospitality headed by Ryan Pernice (Coalition Food and Beverage, Table & Main | a southern tavern, and Osteria Mattone), has continued to fight the fight, and even found a way to help those facing hunger. How were they able to do it?

Live Like A Tourist in Alpharetta | Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Johns Creek

By Janet Rodgers, President and CEO, Alpharetta Convention & Visitor Bur Awesome Alpharetta, Georgia

Alpharetta’s hospitality industry is open for business and invites you to be a tourist in your own community! Prior to March 2020, Alpharetta’s tourism industry was robust and strong. With nearly 3,600 guest rooms, our 28 hotels were thriving with business travelers and face-to-face corporate meetings during the week, while flourishing with large weddings and sports tournaments on weekends. Our restaurants hosted a packed house of diners during lunch and dinner each day. Our attractions welcomed lines of patrons to be entertained. Our shops replenished their stock weekly after selling out products from consumer purchases. Live music and concerts could be heard in the city each week. And our annual events? Well, anyone who has attended an Alpharetta festival or event can tell you they rival against some of the best events in the nation. Taste of Alpharetta, Arts Streetfest, and Wire & Wood Music Festival to name a few event staples in our city. Alpharetta’s hospitality industry is working toward getting stronger every day but has a long way yet to go…which is why our tourism partners need you more than ever!

CARSON KITCHEN REVIEW | Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Johns Creek

Joe Duffy reviews Carson Kitchen in Alpharetta City Center.
" Your life is incomplete unless you’ve consumed roadside pork cracklings in South Louisiana or at least pork rinds somewhere other than off a supermarket shelf. Carson does a great version via the poultry parallel to that: crispy chicken skins. Crackly, crunchy, and tasty, it’s made harmonious by sweetly counterbalancing with smoked honey served on the side."

Joe also explores Vertigo Cafe on Haynes Bridge and heads further north to Halcyon for a slice at Holmes Slice.

By Joe Duffy“Bold and opinionated is how we like to describe our cuisine,” says Carson Kitchen GM Molly Barlow. The Alpharetta City Center newcomer is one of three locations from Woodstock, GA native Cory Harwell, the Chef and President. Salt Lake City and Las Vegas are the two others. When…

The City of Johns Creek is excited to announce Santa Claus Tours throughout local neighborhoods on three Saturdays in December (Dec. 5, 12, and 19).

Neighborhoods can sign up to be included in the Santa Tour, where the Jolly Ol’ Elf himself will ride on the back of a Johns Creek Fire Department truck to spread holiday cheer and toss candy canes to families along the tour route. (Santa will not stop along the route).

An Alpharetta location of Taffer’s Tavern opens in November

Bar Rescue star Jon Taffer opens a location of his eponymous restaurant franchise Taffer’s Tavern in Alpharetta on November 19, according to a press release. Taffer’s Tavern is “inspired by the quintessential neighborhood pub,” serving burgers, flatbreads, and sandwiches, including a pork belly BLT, a slow-braised 72-hour short rib with mac and cheese, and a take on poutine called Tot Roast Fries topped with shredded beef, mushroom béchamel sauce, and cheese curds. In addition to beer and wine, look for cocktails like the Campfire using Taffer’s brown butter rye whiskey or the Berry-Impressive made with fruit-infused vodka served with fresh berries in a French press. When it opens next month, Taffer’s Tavern will offer dine-in service, takeout, and delivery. Masks encouraged. [Official]

Winter (and tax change) is coming for Roswell restaurant owners

The colder weather means more people will be dining indoors at local restaurants which means fewer dine-in patrons due to the pandemic and social distancing. Roswell small business owners say a potential change to the city occupational tax is not helping.

Some of the most profitable firms in Roswell paid much less in taxes in 2019 and 2020 because of a mistake in how the city set tax rates for business license fees. The city is working on a fix and a local restaurant owner wants officials to focus on support instead of taxes.

Hugging station reunites loved ones at Alpharetta assisted living facility

Residents at Inspired Living in Alpharetta can now use hugging stations to reunite with loved ones during the pandemic.

Giving a loved one a hug is probably something many of us never thought we'd take for granted, but it's one of the biggest changes to come from the pandemic.

An assisted living home in Alpharetta, Georgia recently introduced "hugging stations" at their facility to help residents who may be separated from loved ones due to the pandemic.

HW Goes With The Flow | Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Johns Creek

The health and wellness industry has had to practice what we preach in 2020, going with the flow and breathing into the discomfort. Like many small businesses caught by surprise with the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve had to rethink how we offer services to our clients. Many of us in this industry are creatives, intuitives, and doers used to thinking outside the box—and we’ve used those traits to ensure that our community still has access to the support and services we provide.

Very proud of my church! RUMC has always been very supporting and invitational to special needs individuals. Way to go!
Can you suggest a good Hibachi restaurant, where a chef cooks/performs in front of the diners?
Wow. Di Chapman’s column on women drivers really gave them a bad rap! I don’t know about you, but my wife and all the women in my car club are excellent drivers. (Better than some men I know.) Just because she is not attentive to the task when she drives, don’t paint all women with the “bad driver” brush!
I agree with Lin. Creating this area is totally unnecessary as we are being provided the services by the county without another level of government. No new taxes.
Our breeder has had another litter of the most amazing English Doodles ever. We picked up one last year and she's been the sweetest girl I have ever had.
