Let us never forget that 19 years ago so many lives were changed forever. We honor the memory of the fallen, their families, and the first responders who rushed in without hesitation to save lives. ⠀

Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. #NeverForget #remember911

🤔 Did You Know? 🤔

Did you know that Saint Monica, whose Feast Day we celebrate today, is not the only member of her household who can claim the title of Saint?

Her son Augustine would also go on to achieve sainthood. Monica prayed with great persistence that Augustine would repent and convert from his immoral life. He would eventually go on to become one of only 36 Doctors of the Catholic Church. The Church will celebrate Saint Augustine’s Feast Day tomorrow, August 28th.

Let us join in prayer for our brothers and sisters all along the Gulf Coast.

Ahead of Hurricane Laura's landfall, we turn to St. Mary Star of the Sea to intercede for us to her son Jesus Christ and those who are affected by storms and all natural disasters. Join us in praying the Hail Mary and the following prayer during storms.

From the Roman Missal

O God, to whose commands all the elements give obedience, we humbly entreat You, that the stilling of fearsome storms may turn a powerful menace into an occasion for us to praise You. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Happy Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary! 😃🙏

Take a few moments today to reflect on this quote from Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI:

”By looking at Mary’s Assumption into Heaven we understand better that even though our daily life may be marked by trials and difficulties, it flows like a river to the divine ocean, to the fullness of joy and peace. We understand that our death is not the end but rather the entrance into life that knows no death. Our setting on the horizon of this world is our rising at the dawn of the new world, the dawn of the eternal day.”

Little Sisters have big win in Supreme Court decision

Congratulations #LittleSistersOfThePoor for your big win! #SCOTUS ruled 7-2 that they are exempt from the contraceptive mandate and can continue serving the elderly poor without violating their conscience.

The Little Sisters of the Poor had a victory at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, nine years into the religious order’s bouts of litigation over the Obama-era “contraception mandate” which obliged employers to provide for contraceptive coverage for employees through their health care plans.
