Military personnel accused of ra**ng Palestinian captives have held a press conference to protest their innocence.

The fallout from the Sde Teiman scandal has seen the arrests of both Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, former Military Advocate General, and Colonel Matan Solomosh, the former chief military prosecutor.

Both are accused of obstructing justice around the leak of footage showing Israeli soldiers assaulting Palestinian captives in Sde Teiman in 2024.

The former top lawyer of the Israeli military has been arrested for her role in the leak of surveillance video that showed Israeli soldiers gang-ra**ng a Palestinian prisoner at the Sde Teiman prison last year.

The military lawyer, Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, was arrested after being reported missing on Sunday. She resigned last week.

Five of the Israeli reservists seen in the video were criminally prosecuted. The footage showed the soldiers taking aside a detainee, forming a wall with their bodies and equipment in an apparent effort to block cameras, and abusing the man including by forcing a sharp object into his re**um.

The Palestinian victim has not been publicly identified. According to the charges against the soldiers, the man had severe injuries, including cracked ribs, a punctured lung and a re**al tear. At the time, some far-right politicians hailed the soldiers as “heroes."
