The national licensing board announced it will consider folding the proposed skills test into an existing exam amid worries the additional hurdle would discourage applicants.

The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council this summer sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission saying the national board has violated federal antitrust laws by updating the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology to include a second skills test that will go into effect in 2026 without approval and input from the states. https://www.texastribune.org/2024/09/12/texas-mental-health-provider-certification/

Other states look to Texas as the state psychology board pushes against the new national licensing requirements.

Any friend interested in working on this potential project: Seeking a project coordinator on Quality Improvement (QI) project: Warrior Renew Group Therapy for LGBTQ+ Veterans who have Experienced Military Sexual Trauma. The coordinator will use their specific experience working on research studies within and/or outside of VACHS including this project, have a Masters in clinical psychology, with experiences on quantitative data organization and analyses, and psychology/psychiatry projects focused on sexual trauma/PTSD.
