Public Utilities crews are working on a line repair in the area of N. Lamar Street from Court Street to W. Morehead Street. This may also affect immediately surrounding areas. Water services may be interrupted for an extended period of time but will be restored as soon as possible.

Crews continue to work on repairs between Durham Road and Weeks Drive. This notice is out of precaution for water customers in the immediate area.

Durham Road Closed for Several Days

The North Carolina Department of Transportation closed Durham Road between Weeks Drive and Old Durham for an emergency repair to the road as crews repair a broken water main. Crews estimate the closure will remain for several days. The closure will impact local and commercial traffic. Detour information is listed below.

Commercial trucks needing access to US 501north past Weeks Drive will need to use the following detour:
•US-501 North
•Left on Patterson Drive
•Straight at 4-way stop onto Wrenn Crumpton Road
•Follow to NC 49, right onto NC-49 (Burlington Road)

Local Traffic Only
•Restaurants and businesses at Garret Street/Old Durham Road remain accessible.
•Wal Mart remains accessible only from the Garrett Street side of Durham Road.
•NO TRAFFIC is allowed southbound past the stop light at Wal Mart
•Durham Road northbound remains accessible all the way to Weeks Drive.
•Golden Corral and businesses on Weeks Drive remain open.
