An update to what we reported last night.

**** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ****

(PERSON COUNTY, NC) – The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) announces the arrest of Latisha Annette Linzsey following a Person County Grand Jury indictment related to the homicide of Kemari Morgan (Black male, DOB: 09/16/2023).

On May 24, 2025, Kemari Morgan was found unresponsive in his crib. The Person County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into the child’s death. A subsequent toxicology report determined Morgan died as a result of receiving a fatal dosage of multiple medications.

On November 18, 2025, the SBI received a request for assistance from the Person County Sheriff’s Office. After several weeks of investigation, SBI agents consulted with District Attorney Mike Waters, and the decision was made to present the case to a grand jury.

The Person County Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment, and Ms. Linzsey was immediately taken into custody.

Ms. Linzsey is currently being held at the Person County Detention Center under a $300,000 bond, pending her first court appearance.

We’re getting close to Christmas and we need to get those Santa letters to the North Pole.
Drop off your letters, or those from your students, to our office in Uptown Roxboro or email them to:
[email protected].
We’ll make sure we get them in our Seasons Greetings special section before sending them to the North Pole.

(12/9 8:05 am) Good morning, Person County.
Just heard from Person County government that “secondary roads are ice” and there have been multiple accidents this morning.
It would be a great idea to get another cup of coffee, find something to stream and make sure your recliner or couch doesn’t fly away at least for a few more hours.
