English guitarist Robin Trower's early music is linked to psychedelia in the same way the public perceived the early work of Jimi Hendrix. Musically, the two created in the 1960s and (in Trower's case, also the early 1970s), what could be termed, an uncanny ability to tap into realms of sounds that jar the senses. Both guitarists shared a penchant for playing passages of guitar music punctuated by ethereal beauty and capable of executing mind-numbing, dissonant solos. Trower still summons that aural muse with enthusiasm and skill. Here, writer Bruce Madden explores this musical realm with a very candid Robin Trower in this classic 1997 interview from the pages of Experience Hendrix: The Official Jimi Hendrix Magazine. https://bit.ly/3YzJuue

The new Third Man Records Vault No. 67: Jimi Hendrix Valley of Jams 1969-1970

-️ 3xLP expertly pressed on vibrant 180-gram colored vinyl
- 7” solo demo for the monster blues of “Midnight Lightning” backed with the rollicking odd-time signature “Beginnings (Take 5).”
-️ Custom-made patch and slap-it-on-the-car bumper sticker

The recordings span multiple sessions in New York and London and have appeared scattered across various releases over the years, but this newly compiled track list (curated by pre-eminent Hendrix expert John McDermott) provides previously overlooked context and perspective behind the narrative and interconnectedness of all these songs.

All songs were precisely mixed by the legendary Eddie Kramer, Jimi’s engineer of choice, who spent as much time as anyone with Jimi in the studio during these jam excursions.

This image is a detailed close-up illustration of a wooden roof or siding system highlighting the profile of a type of interlocking wood shingle or shake.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE SHINGLES
The image focuses on a cross-section of a single shingle (or possibly a pair being interlocked) shown in the foreground with the finished roof surface blurred in the background.

1. SHINGLE PROFILE AND JOINERY
* Shingle Material: The material is wood with visible grain and growth rings in the cross-section.
* Interlocking Mechanism: The critical feature is the tongue-and-groove or similar interlocking joint machined into the side edges of the shingle.
* The top shingle piece shows a groove (an indented channel) cut along its bottom edge.
* The bottom shingle piece shows a tongue (a protruding ridge) that fits snugly into the groove of the piece above it.
* This interlocking design allows the shingles to fit together tightly providing weather resistance and a continuous solid surface.
* Face Profile: The exposed surface of the shingles is flat and the bottom edge of the installed shingle appears rounded or beveled to create an overlapping look.

2. CONTEXT AND FINISH
* Background (Natural Wood): The area to the right in the background shows a finished section of the roof or siding using these shingles in their natural wood color (light tan/beige).
* Foreground (Colored Wood): The area to the left shows a finished section of the roof or siding where the wood has been stained or painted a deep green/teal color.
* Application: The overall effect shows a system designed to look like traditional wood shingles or shakes but with the added structural benefit and ease of installation provided by the interlocking edges. This type of profile is often used to ensure a better seal against rain and wind compared to traditional butt-jointed shingles.
