So we’re almost at 100 followers, thanks that is awesome. This weeks author: Langston Hughes. I thought he would be fitting to start us off considering what the world is going through. Here’s a quick summary of his life for those who aren’t familiar. He was born in Mississippi and grew up in various cities, but moved to NY during is adult life. As a highly successful writer and social activist, he is considered to be very influential during the Harlem Renaissance era. Being the wordsmith he was, awards came in at various point of his career for differing styles of writing. He has also been named as one of the founders of a writing style known as jazz poetry.

What is your favorite poem or piece of writing he’s done? Is there a personal connection or something else?

“Po’ Boy Blues” is a poem I connect with at different parts of my life. Anyone else?

We have found additional resources that are available to us; it will enable each book we publish to have individual ISBN numbers and bar codes that way if you get enough popularity other stores can stock it. 👍

Whether you are an experienced writer, or an up and comer we want to read your story. Non-fiction, fiction, short stories, prose, poetry, the only thing we ask is to keep the vulgar stuff to a minimum. Other than that, it’s fair game here. If you’ve had a dream of being a “published writer”, here is your chance. Who knows, it could be a stepping stone to something bigger. We are just getting things up and running, so it may take so time to get the first publishing complete.

The platform: we want to rival Amazon or some other company that electronically publishes. We don’t have any charges to publish online, but the paperback would just cover the cost of printing all royalties will go to the author. Once published any author that wants to return can submit further pieces into a manuscript or book to sell in our online store. Again, all royalties outside of print and shipping costs will go to the author.

There will be a weekly blog about a certain author or a hot topic. Contests to win bound books and writing supplies every month or two. So stay tuned.

Our founder is Matthew Kersey, 32, a six and a half year veteran of the Army as a medic. Deployed twice to Afghanistan with Infantry units each visit. He has been writing since high school, 15+ years non professionally, and values depth and meaning to writing.
