The Sabetha Herald’s ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Curtis Fitzgerald FOOTBALL SABETHA HIGH SCHOOL Junior running back and defensive back Curtis Fitzgerald turned in an all around performance in the Class 2A Sectional contest against the Nemaha Central Thunder on Friday, November 14. Fitzgerald led a strong defensive effort with five solo tackles. On the offensive side of the ball, Fitzgerald rushed for 57 yards on nine carries.

The Sabetha Herald’s ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Charlie Lukert FOOTBALL SABETHA HIGH SCHOOL Senior cornerback Charlie Lukert turned in an exceptional defensive effort to help thwart the potent Silver Lake passing attack that amassed 284 yards during the Regional game on Friday, November 7. Lukert had seven solo tackles and one assisted tackle during the course of the game.

The Sabetha Herald’s ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Micah Lang FOOTBALL SABETHA HIGH SCHOOL Junior quarterback and linebacker Micah Lang turned in a stellar performance in the Jays’ 48-0 victory over the Humboldt Cubs in district play on Thursday, October 30. Lang found the endzone from both sides of the ball with an interception return for a touchdown, a rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion. Lang also completed a 45-yard pass to set up another score.
