First Ever event at the newly christened Shull Center is Thursday night.
The Shull Center, formerly known as the Sac City High School and East Sac County Middle School, is excited to announce that Chad Elliott will be our first performer to grace the stage of the auditorium. Chad is an Iowa native, singer, songwriter, and children’s author. He was recently inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ree Irwin was pivotal in securing a date in his busy schedule, and he will be in Sac City on Thursday, November 13. He will spend the afternoon with the elementary students telling stories from his book Wilderman’s Treetop Tales and encouraging their story-writing skills. He will come back to the stage that evening at 7:00 p.m. to perform a concert for the community. Ree said, “I’m excited to have an artist like Chad be our first performer and share his talents with our elementary students and our community.” His music blends Americana, blues, rock, and country. Sammie Bruce, committee member, says, “His music provides something for everyone, no matter what your favorite type of music.” Tickets for the show can be bought online at http://Shullcenter.org, or tickets will be available at the door. The cost of tickets is $25.
The Shull Center is planning many more events over the coming months and wants to make this venue a vital place for community members to enjoy the arts and perform. Brandy Wilson, Director of Business Development for Huegrich Construction, has said, “We’re excited to see this space alive again and open to the public.”
The committee is working hard to book events that will interest our community and the surrounding communities. The Children’s Theater Group will be performing a Variety Show on November 21 and 22. The Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, a 50’s and 60’s cover band, will entertain on December 31. February will bring dinner and comedic relief with Mary Mack and Tim Harmstrom. Please keep your eyes out for information on our page. As Steve Irwin, committee member, says, “This is going to be a one-of-a-kind venue for our area.”
