Every November, America Recycles Day reminds us that our small actions, like recycling a can or composting an apple core, can have a big impact for our planet and our future generations said Sue Vang, Senior Environmental Scientist at CalRecyle.

Californians throw away 40 million tons of materials each year. When food scraps and beverage containers end up in landfills, they waste valuable resources and release harmful climate pollution that leads to more droughts and wildfires.

ICYMI: Remembering those who served on this Veterans Day.

It was one day in 1967, little did Dr. Yeng Xiong know that he would go to sleep the night before as a third-grade teacher of Lao language, and that he would soon be waking up as a soldier in the Special Guerilla Unit (SGU). That realization occurred at the CIA office at Lima Site 20 Alternate in Long Tieng.

“A lot of soldiers died in front of me on the front lines. A lot were wounded. A lot of people depended on me. Sometimes I have nightmares about people crying. Most of my friends, we were all teachers. Only two were left,” he added.
