Five years after the Caldor Fire raged through El Dorado County and destroyed nearly 800 homes, some survivors still haven’t been able to rebuild.

Grizzly Flats, the community shown in this video, was one of the hardest-hit areas, losing 476 homes.

El Dorado County planning commissioners have recommended extending rules allowing eligible survivors to live in permitted RVs on their properties and receive rebuilding permit fee relief through Oct. 1, 2029.

The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to consider the extension Oct. 20.
