Well, hello there—and welcome to my page! I’m so glad you’re here.

If you recognize me, it’s probably from my nearly 20 years in television news—most recently as an evening anchor at KCRA in Sacramento. It was an absolute honor to guide viewers through history-making moments and to share the stories of so many incredible organizations both on and off camera.

Since leaving the anchor desk in 2020, I’ve taken that experience and built something I love every day: Kellie DeMarco Communications.

🎥 ✨ to an unforgettable interview in my TV career. 🇺🇸 On September 19, 2019, I had the incredible opportunity to interview former FBI Director James Comey. As the evening news anchor for KCRA-TV in Sacramento, I was tasked with interviewing him in front of thousands of people at the Memorial Auditorium for the Sacramento Speakers Series. It was a challenging experience, as I knew half the audience admired him while the other half held a different opinion.

At that time, the nation was engulfed in a highly controversial period, centered around the relationship between James Comey and President Donald Trump. Comey’s new book, aptly titled “A Higher Loyalty,” had just been released, which delved into the events and conversations that transpired between them.

The controversy stemmed from Comey’s role as the FBI Director and his involvement in investigations related to the 2016 U.S. Presidential election. The public was captivated by the unfolding events, which included Comey’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails and his subsequent firing by President Trump.

🎙️ Presenting in front of such a diverse audience was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. But I knew the importance of preparation and embracing my own confidence. I understood the significance of being well-prepared for such moments, whether it’s an interview on-camera or speaking on stage. The experience taught me the power of stepping outside my comfort zone and moving past my fears to deliver my best.

✨In the end, the interview with James Comey exceeded my expectations. He proved to be friendly, funny, and refreshingly honest. It was a pleasant surprise for the audience, considering the events and controversy leading up to that moment. The experience reinforced the importance of not making assumptions and approaching each interview I conducted with an open mind.

🎤 Reflecting on this moment reminds me of the transformative power of preparation, confidence, and authenticity- especially when you’re in front of an audience. Embrace these qualities in your own journey as a communicator and watch your impact soar! 💫

🎥 📺 Leaving the news business hasn't diminished my love for storytelling, especially after witnessing the incredible success of students at John Adams Academy in Roseville and iLearn in Auburn, CA. It's truly inspiring to see children thriving in different ways, proving that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to education.

📚✨ The involvement of parents in their journey is undeniably crucial, fostering an environment where their potential knows no bounds.

2018: I was asked to interview the legendary John Cleese in front of a packed LIVE audience in Sacramento. It was an absolute dream come true… but preparing for it didn’t feel that way!

🌟 For those (younger friends) who don't know, John Cleese is a comedic genius and a founding member of the iconic Monty Python troupe. His wit and talent have left an indelible mark on the world of comedy.

😄✨ Heres the problem… I’d never seen any of those movies & really didn’t know much about him. I wasn’t even 40 yet! Imagine how let down our audience would’ve been if they knew that…

So… I turned my nerves into action & prepared like it was a FINAL.

💫 I dove into his new book, watched his movies, researched the heck out of him and discovered what an incredible person he is - so kind, genuine, and full of wisdom. By the end of our interview, we went deep, learned even more about his life and yes… I even made HIM laugh a time or two!! We were fast friends (and he even suggested we go on the road together! 🚀🎭😂)

🎤This experience taught me that sometimes, all it takes is pushing past your fears and embracing new opportunities. Say YES. Don't let nerves hold you back - just go for it! And as always, PREPARE.💪✨
