Casting for new local non-union television series, "The Shop". Thank you for your interest in our current casting call for "The Shop"
Synopsis:
In the heart of the city, The Shop serves as more than just a coffee haven—it's a stage where dreams brew and dramas unfold. Follow Julia and her eclectic crew as they navigate love, ambition, and the perfect latte in this quirky slice-of-life series. The vibrant community within The Shop faces everyday challenges, humorous misadventures, and heartfelt moments that intertwine their lives.
Characters:
Julia (Lead)
Early 20s, Female, Any Ethnicity. Julia is sweet and slightly quirky, working at The Shop while dreaming of becoming an actress. Her journey involves overcoming shyness and discovering her own potential.
Simon (Lead)
Early 20s, Male, Any Ethnicity. Simon is a lovable nerd with a big heart, harboring a crush on Zoe. He often finds himself comically entangled in the café's daily chaos, bringing humor and earnestness to the team.
Karla (Supporting)
Mid-20s, Female, Any Ethnicity. Karla is a stunning but icy working actress who exudes confidence. She often clashes with Julia and the others, hiding a softer side beneath her tough exterior.
Margaret / Steve (Supporting)
40s, Female, Any Gender / Ethnicity. Margaret is the owner of The Shop, mentoring the younger staff with wisdom and occasional comic relief. They balance their roles with a flair for the dramatic.
Ethan (Supporting)
Mid-20s, Male, Any Ethnicity. Ethan is smart and slightly nerdy with a skater or musician vibe. A regular at The Shop, he is intrigued by Julia and faces a slow-burn journey toward expressing his feelings.
Tyler (Supporting)
Mid-20s, Male, Any Ethnicity. Tyler is Ethan’s best friend and a prankster, always loud and ready for an adventure. He supports Ethan's romantic pursuits with enthusiasm and comedic antics.
Ayiana (Co-Star)
30s, Female, Any Ethnicity. Ayiana is a hardworking mother struggling to balance her career and parenting. Her emotional journey with her child, Sam, adds depth to the show's exploration of family dynamics.
Sam (Co-Star)
Pre-teen to early Teen, any gender, Any Ethnicity. Sam is Ayiana’s child, dealing with the pressures of moving and fitting in. Their emotional struggles highlight themes of adolescence and parent-child relationships.
Lily (Supporting)
Pre-teen to early Teen, Female, Any Ethnicity. Lily is a young actress with a fierce personality, involved in the casting call chaos. Her interactions provide a glimpse into the competitive world of young performers.

Schedule: "The Shop" will film two to three days per week June 4-July 26th weekly on weekdays only from 10am-2pm. There will be some flexibility of schedules for family vacations, etc, if declared AT THE TIME OF CASTING SUBMISSION.
Compensation is $50/week (when called). This production is under a SAG-Aftra Microbudget Agreement and open to union and nonunion actors. New Mexico residents only. Filmed in Albuquerque, NM.
