Sacramento, Calif. – On September 26th, 2025, the Sacramento Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) Checkpoint from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. within the city limits.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Sergeant Anna Mahoney said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”

The Sacramento Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational ma*****na are legal, driving under the influence of ma*****na is illegal.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Driving Dirty Gets You Busted! 🤦🏻‍♂️

From RPD:
Over the weekend, our COPPS Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with four occupants after detecting a strong odor of ma*****na billowing from the open windows.

During the stop, the driver attempted to retrieve identification from a bag in the backseat but was instructed not to. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted based on the odor of fresh ma*****na. Inside the bag, officers located a loaded G***k handgun, which was determined to have the serial number removed.

The driver, identified as Rokiem Taylor of Sacramento, was arrested and booked on two felony weapons charges.

On September 17, detectives arrested 36-year-old Balwinder Singh of Yuba City. He was booked on multiple felony theft charges.

We are so grateful for the hard work, dedication, and meticulous follow up by the investigators in this case.

As a reminder to our community - ALWAYS verify who you are communicating with and never send money to an unknown or untrusted source.

🚨The Department of Homeland Security says it won’t comply with California’s new law banning law enforcement officers — including ICE agents — from wearing masks during operations.

The law, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, came after backlash over masked immigration arrests across SoCal earlier this year.

DHS fired back, calling the law unconstitutional and warning it puts agents in danger as threats against them rise.

This sets up another clash between California and federal authorities — with U.S. officials saying the state has no power to regulate their operations.

Folsom Police Department Arrested 100 Suspects Who Were Drug Trafficking With Fentanyl and Other Dangerous Drugs!!

From Folsom PD:
Folsom, CA – From September 15–19, 2025, the Folsom Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), in partnership with multiple regional, state, and federal agencies, conducted a large-scale operation targeting fentanyl and other illicit drugs.

The operation brought together law enforcement partners from Sacramento, El Dorado, Santa Clara, Colusa, Amador, Yolo, Yuba, and Placer Counties, along with the California Highway Patrol, California Department of Parole, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS).

Efforts focused on disrupting online sales of fentanyl, conducting search warrants, interdiction operations, and high-impact patrols in areas known for drug activity. The coordinated effort resulted in over 100 arrests connected to drug trafficking, illegal fi****ms possession, and other serious felony offenses.

“This operation demonstrates the power of collaboration,” said Lieutenant David Canepa of the Folsom Police Department. “Fentanyl continues to devastate communities across our region, and only by working together can we hold offenders accountable and keep our neighborhoods safe.”

We thank the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office for their support during this operation by providing on-site personnel and assisting with case processing.

A press conference will be held to release full details of the operation, including the names of participating agencies and the scope of the results:

📅 Thursday, September 25, 2025
🕙 12:00 p.m.

📍 Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office 906 G Street, Sacramento

The Folsom Police Department remains committed to protecting our community from the dangers of fentanyl and other illicit drugs, and will continue to work closely with our local, state, and federal partners to keep our neighborhoods safe.

For investigative inquiries please refer to the scheduled press conference detailed in this post.

🚨 12-YEAR-OLD TAKES PARENTS’ CAR & LEADS POLICE ON A MONDAY MORNING HIGH-SPEED CHASE! 😅👀

From Sac Sheriff:
This morning, just after 7 AM, Central Division Patrol Deputies responded after a 12-year-old took their parent’s vehicle and drove to his former school, on Caymus Drive in South Sacramento. He ran over some traffic cones and left the area.

Deputies located the vehicle moments later and attempted to stop it, but the juvenile led them on a short pursuit through the neighborhood. The vehicle struck a parked car and one of our patrol units, but thankfully, no one was injured. The juvenile was then safely taken into custody.

Please be aware of traffic delays in the area of Ge**er Road and Valley Wood Drive.
