The best part of our job isn’t writing citations or making arrests—it’s service.

Recently, Officer McTaggart and his partner, Officer Erby, came across a motorist stranded with a flat tire. Although she had already called for a tow truck, her vehicle was stopped in an unsafe location and waiting posed an unnecessary risk to her safety.

Rather than leaving her to wait, the officers stepped in, changed the tire, and got her safely back on the road.

Every day, CHP officers encounter opportunities to serve the public in ways both big and small. Sometimes that means responding to emergencies, and sometimes it means lending a helping hand to someone in need. Either way, our mission remains the same: providing the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to the communities we serve.

Great work by Officer McTaggart and Officer Erby for going above and beyond to help a motorist and keep our roadways safe.
