While many in our community celebrated with barbecues, pool parties, and time with family and friends, we, alongside our partners in Code Enforcement, were hard at work ensuring a safe Independence Day for all.

From 5 PM to midnight, it was all hands-on deck, with a large number of EGPD staff dedicated to the Red, White & Blue Celebration at Elk Grove Park, helping to keep more than 30,000 attendees safe throughout the event.

In addition to our presence at the park:
• Our Real Time Information Center was up and running
• The Dispatch Center was fully staffed and fielding high call volumes
• Code Enforcement teams were actively patrolling neighborhoods for illegal fireworks
• Three EGPD drones were deployed and completed 37 flights to help identify illegal fireworks activity

The results:
• 41 properties cited for illegal fireworks
• $330,000 in fines issued by the City
• 114 9-1-1 calls and 329 non-emergency calls received

The Fourth of July is traditionally one of our busiest nights of the year, and this year was no exception.

Let’s continue working together to ensure the 4th is both fun and safe for everyone in Elk Grove.
