Veteran Radio

Veteran Radio We are migrating to an online broadcast to reach anyone and everyone! Stay posted to our page as we give updates. The goal is to bridge the gap.

Veteran Radio is the traditional media outlet dedicated to discussing veteran issues, and provide practical meaning for our surrounding communities. The program will convey a wide variety of informative and entertaining content which will find wide appeal to veterans and non-veterans alike. The many issues that current, past, and even future generations of veterans will face have a real impact on

our homes, communities and society. We discuss the wide array of issues that touch our veterans, their families and communities. In addition to these many serious issues, we will also dig deep into the rich history the Sacramento Valley has played in the defense of our nation. Past and current generation vets, active duty and retired, will share stories not discussed in the main stream. If you are thinking of joining, we will discuss issues as they relate to the future generations of veterans as well. Local and state officials will discuss how these issues are viewed from a public servant's perspective. Of course, we will entertain ourselves (and you) with tid-bits that the different branches of the military like to use to poke fun at each other. Thanks to a grateful nation, and previous generations of veterans, there has never been such an outpouring of support for veterans. The high-technology and social media works almost too well though. Targeted, opt-in, media overlooks the rest that might want to engage in the conversation. It is the perfect time to align the virtual communication with a wide appeal, reliable, traditional medium to our circles of friends, organizations, or even the dinner table. Thank you for checking in.

Hello everyone! We've been off the radar lately while we regrouped from terrestrial radio and organized into an online format. That transition is underway, and while we work on it, we are guest hosting with our good friends at Vets On . You can connect to today's show and listen in, or join the live video hangout on Google+ https://plus.google.com/u/0/111125789711047793995/posts

We are two combat Veterans that march to beat of our own drum. The show title says it all. Vets On could be anything that is topical or gains our inter…

So overwhelming votes in both houses of Congress to fix the death benefit travesty the shutdown supposedly caused, and now the White House has rejected it? So what if you can direct OMB to do something? Congress actually did something for you. Sign the bill and be done with it. http://washingtonexaminer.com/jay-carney-says-we-dont-need-legislation-to-pay-military-death-benefits/article/2537106

President Obama opposed passage of funding for veterans' death benefits because the Fisher House Foundation has agreed to cover the costs, according to his spokesman. The legislation is not necessary, White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters Thursday when asked about legislation approve...

Is this what we are destined to become? WWII Army veteran Delbert "Shorty" Belton, wounded in the Pacific Theater, during the Battle of Okinawa, joined his brothers today. He was the victim of a couple cowards, teenagers that beat him to death Wednesday evening. Will justice ever truly be served? Will these two thugs be found? http://www.kxly.com/news/spokane-news/elderly-man-dies-after-being-attacked-outside-ice-arena/-/101214/21574858/-/9flm7iz/-/index.html

WWII veteran Delbert Belton survived being wounded in action during the Battle of Okinawa only to be beaten and left for dead by two teens at the Eagles Lodge in Spokane Wednesday evening.

If you are ever in doubt where cuts need to be made in our creaking bureaucracy that is our government, including the Department of Defense, look no further than the clowns who came up with this brilliant idea...at the expense of our wounded. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/15/insult-to-injury-wounded-warriors-snubbed-at-walter-reed-dining-hall/

In a disturbing revelation about the treatment of America's most severely wounded troops, Fox News has learned the military earlier this month decided to invalidate meal tickets and reduce hours for the sole dining facility in the Walter Reed building where they are recovering.

The press has been living up to its normal standard and has not done much in the way of reporting this, but after nearly FOUR YEARS, the trial of Major Hasan, who perpetrated a TERRORIST ATTACK on Fort Hood (no, not a workplace violence incident), will finally begin. August 6. About time. http://www.wfaa.com/news/crime/Accused-Fort-Hood-shooter-212020901.html

After weeks of delays, a U.S. Army judge scheduled jury selection in Maj. Nidal Hasan’s criminal trial to begin on July 9, and opening statements to start no earlier than August 6.

Talk about a fall from grace, Jesse Ventura, once governor of Minnesota, a man that did serve his country honorably, now continues his frivolous lawsuit against Chris Kyle, Navy SEAL, deceased, leaving his widow to defend the memory. How proud do you think Ventura feels right now? Anything other than shame is a disgrace. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/20/jesse-ventura-lawsuit_n_3628283.html

Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura's lawsuit against deceased Navy SEAL Chris Kyle can continue, a judge has ruled. Arthur Boylan, U.S. chief magistrate judge for the federal courts in Minnesota, ruled that as executor of her husband's estate, Kyle's wife Taya can act as a "substitution" for the de...

Every now and again we see news about TSA agents arguably not handling their interactions with a wounded veteran. Rightfully, such news creates quite a bit of anger and continues to keep focus on TSA. One way that may help reduce such incidents is fore wounded veterans to utilize the TSA's Injured Service Members/Veterans and Wounded Warriors liaison service. By calling or emailing ahead of time with your travel details and information about your injury, TSA will send a special notice to the relevant airports and you will be contacted to facilitate your check-in and security. As some airports, the terminal's security director will es**rt you the whole way. When times are busy, it may be another TSA agent, but the point is that offering this heads-up all-but-eliminates any chance of misunderstandings. I use it every time I travel and have not encountered any horrors as a result. TSA meets me curbside, gets me through everything, and often meets me when I land. I do not agree with TSAs methods or policies by-and-large, but this program does work. See the details here and spread the word to other wounded vets. I will often send an email two or three days before my flight, provide details about my injury (prosthetic leg, crutches in the bag, etc) and whether I need any accommodation (I don't need any physical assistance, I just request that security be aware of my arrival so that no one is "surprised" by my prosthetic leg). All the best and safe travels. http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/military-personnel-injured-service-membersveterans-and-wounded-warriors

Being an Army vet, I am just a tad biased, but these guys will never learn, and even if they do learn it will be at the expense of our defense readiness. These cuts take us to under 10 combat divisions. Just because we are pulling out of Afghanistan and no longer in Iraq does not mean we are in a relative post-Cold-War peace time. The world is on fire, and eventually, we are going to be call upon to make things right if we have any integrity left as a people. http://www.armytimes.com/article/20130625/NEWS/306250042/Army-announces-10-brigade-combat-teams-cut

The Army will cut 10 brigade combat teams over the next four years, bringing the number of active-duty BCTs to 33, Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond Odierno said Tuesday.
