This Labor Day year marks the 130th anniversary of the Labor Day holiday. The first Labor Day parade was in 1882, but Labor Day wasn't a federal holiday until 1894. With the combined efforts and sacrifices of workers and unions, American workers achieved better wages and working conditions and a holiday on the first Monday of September to celebrate workers and their accomplishments.
