Living Locket Films

Living Locket Films Living Locket Films is a video production service that specializes in capturing family legacies through our uniquely crafted documentaries.

Behind Living Locket Films is power couple Michael Broussard and Jennifer Fernandes. After meeting in film school these two dove into the world of television where they quickly found success working at Nickelodeon. Although they greatly enjoyed their work in television, they weren't fulfilled. Two years into their careers, Michael and Jennifer got the idea to film a tribute video in memory of Jenn

ifer's mom Bette who had passed away in 2009 from Pancreatic Cancer. Jennifer had realized the memory of her mom
was fading and something had to be done to ensure that her memory was captured to be shared with future generations. The process of creating Bette's tribute documentary not only strengthened Jennifer's memory of her mom, but also unveiled incredible stories about Bette that hadn't previously been known. This experience led Michael and Jennifer to find their purpose in life, discovering their passion for capturing family stories and igniting a desire to change the way history is preserved. In 2015, Michael and Jennifer made the bold decision to leave their careers at Nickelodeon and follow their hearts, launching Living Locket Films. Since then, they have traveled across the nation documenting family stories for all occasions, capturing stories of love, war, parenthood and everything in between. Although their legacy work consumes a lot of their time, they've found a way to maintain their career in the television industry. Most recently, Michael and Jen worked as Director of Photography/Director and Camera Operator for CBS's The Recruit and This Is Hawaii as well as UPTv's Our Wedding Story. Ultimately, they have a deep-rooted love for story telling and together, Michael and Jennifer are on a mission to document history in a unique way that allows it to be shared with and enjoyed by generations forever.

We can’t believe that we filmed this over 5 years ago! In 2015 we filmed a 90 minute interview of both my grandma Lois and Jen’s grandpa Doede and that experience is what encouraged us to start Living Locket Films. We had so much fun learning about our family history, connecting with our loved ones, and sharing stories. It was an experience we thought everyone should be able to have and a product we knew would be of the most valuable things we would ever own. After months of building a website, filming example videos, registering a business, and most importantly building the courage to leave our jobs at Nickelodeon, we launched Living Locket Films and haven’t looked back. This business was built on pure passion and we are so grateful to be able to do what we love every day and create films that bring families together and capture legacies of those we love.

Today we celebrate my dear grandma Lois’ 95th birthday and although I wish I could give her a big hug, her health and safety is more important, and luckily I have this fun clip to bring a smile to our faces! We will come visit as soon as we can grandma. Love you!

Today we want to wish a very Happy 43rd Anniversary to my extraordinary parents, Dallas and Pamela! Their legacy film was one of the first we made before launching our company and we are so grateful to them for the continuous inspiration, encouragement and support. Thank you for being the perfect role models and showing us that life is all about doing what you love with the support of the person you love. We can attribute a lot of our success and happiness to your leadership and we just want you to know how much we truly love and admire you both and the strength of your relationship. We're sending you big hugs and kisses from quarantine!

Here's our story-
My Opa (featured in the middle) grew up in Holland and as a young boy his family didn’t have much money. Every day he had to ride his bike to school although there was a train that went along the same route. Some days when he didn’t feel like riding his bike he would hop onto the train without purchasing a ticket. One day the conductor caught him and told him he had to get off the train. Opa told him, “No, I have to go to school.” The conductor responded by saying, “Either you get off the train or I do.” Opa held his ground and so the conductor stepped off of the train. Well, mischievous Opa knew there was a bell for the conductor to ring that indicated everything was good and allowed the train to start moving so what did he do? Without hesitation he reached out and rang it! Low and behold, the train started to move and the conductor was running after it, yelling and screaming for it to stop. The train didn’t get very far and Opa was quickly removed from the train. After that I imagine he was stuck riding his bike to school…

With the current shelter-in-place order, we, like many other small businesses have had to put our projects on hold in order to do our part in protecting community members and slowing the spread of this virus. With our business largely revolving around telling the stories of the senior community we have been greatly impacted, but our primary focus is the health and safety of your loved ones. Although we aren’t currently scheduling film dates for the upcoming months, there are ways you can show your support! If you’ve worked with us, share your experience in a review on Yelp, Facebook or Google. Follow our social media pages and be sure to like, engage with, and share our posts. Tell a friend about our services. We will also be accepting deposits for bookings at the end of this year and next year to hold your spot.

The fear and uncertainty of everything happening in our world has been a real wake up call in realizing how precious our time with loved ones is. Although we can’t visit them right now, we encourage you to call your grandpa, your mom, your sister or another special person in your life to say hello and brighten their day! These times can be really challenging especially for seniors alone in isolation so let them know you’re thinking of them 💕

We can’t wait for this!! It’s our third year producing the videos for My Friend’s Place’s Annual Gala. Each year we have the honor of shedding light on some incredible stories from young people in the throes of homelessness along with powerful stories of triumph, success and growth. This year we’ve had the opportunity to sit with a lot of young people, hearing their stories, struggles and dreams and we can’t wait to share them with the world. These young people are talented, intelligent, hardworking, more than capable and need their community to uplift them!

The event, which serves to raise funds in the fight to reverse youth homelessness, will be held March 28 and hosted by Alanna Ubach.
