“I’m a little teapot, short and stout”…
I upcycled these silver-plated teapots using Dixie Belle Paint Company products. First, I applied Bonding Boss (an adhesion primer) and hand-painted the jack-o-lantern faces, cobwebs and spiders with Florida Orange and Terracotta, Daisy, Cavier, and Cotton Chalk Mineral Paints. I used Dixie Belle Satin Clear Coat to seal my projects.

Tip Tuesday: Customers love a natural finish—and Howdy-Do H**p Oil delivers!

🌿 Ideal for raw wood, painted pieces & worn finishes.
💧 Protects against moisture & UV damage.

This chest of drawers finish was completely wore off, down to the bare wood, when I picked it up. I refinished it by using a wash of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint - Cavier and used Howdy-Do H**p Oil as a top coat over the wash. The Howdy-Do H**p Oil nourished the wood because it was so dry in addition to sealing the cavier wash. The top of the chest was stained with Dixie Belle Colonial Black No Pain Gel Stain and Gator Hide was applied for the top coat.

Hello, my name is Kimberly Wallace. I’m the owner and creative at The Chalked Trunk. I have always been a crafter and DIY enthusiast. I like to attend Vintage Markets and I like to decorate by upcycling and repurposing, mixing old with new. Above all, I LOVE painting furniture! I started by finding and painting pieces for my own home because I could never find what I liked in retail stores. Not to mention, the prices were over the top! There is so much character and durability in a vintage piece of furniture, and finding outdated, solid wood pieces to paint is just a bigger palette for me to create something beautiful. As I continue to follow my passion, I am inspired by new painting techniques and color choices. There is so much satisfaction knowing that each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation!

New in 2020! I recently acquired shop space and am selling furniture and home decor’ at “Vintage Soul” in Old Town Elk Grove (9084 Elk Grove, Blvd., Elk Grove, CA). It’s a shop with a mix of old and new where you can find vintage, farmhouse and shabby chic decor and more! I am also proud to announce that I am a Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint retailer!
