It’s unfortunate that many school school districts in the state of California are lacking funds, resources and supplies for teachers and students. Having witnessed on both ends (as a parent and working with youth in education field) classrooms are impacted by an unfair student to teacher ratio. Unfair to the students because most don’t get the attention they need and unfair to teachers having to educate in small classrooms, not supplies, stretched entirely to thin (1:30) in most cases. On top of that schools are not properly funded, so teachers are not getting paid what they deserve, what they’re worth, students are not supplied and having to lose on education time because our educators have to strike in order to be heard and get what they deserve. In Los Angeles, Oakland and now Sacramento and it’s not just happening in California it’s across the United States.
Why does this country treat the people that are responsible with educating our youth (to continue to be an asset to this country) as if they are not valued? Why does this country treat the youth as if their education isn’t of importance?
We stand with the teachers for adequate staffing and better pay (our educators should not have to work 2 jobs outside of teaching to make ends meet), we stand with our youth in demanding better schools, better and more supplies & quality staff. (-D.Wilo)
